    hiya :)

try having a read of page 9 and 10 of this thread for more information but basically, recommendations for credit cards there appear to be mainly the Post Office credit card.

Personally (just cos it's easier for me) I use the Nationwide credit card for some spends (booking hotel etc), and sometimes to purchase in shops (remember to have your passport with you if you're paying with it in person). Commission free and decent exchange rate.

For Cash, I use a nationwide savings (Flexi) card for getting my cash out from cash points (although usually a $2 charge in the states for any card). Once more, commission free and decent exchange rate.

Account for both can be managed on line and you can easily transfer from one account to the other :)

Is that direct with Caesars or through a website?

of course some offers will be good for your dates while other not so good , it just depends on the offer. this why it is better to be flexiable about where you stay and look at as many offers as possible to see what is good for your dates .

if the MGM grand offer i booked was the best value i'd most likely be staying there , as it is i'm 95% certain that the Caesars offer will be best for my budget unless something amazing for the Palazzo come along  .

if you need to apply for a credit card , i would vote for the Post office card for the £20.50 free cash from Quidco http://www.quidco.com/post-office/

+ good customer service on it , and the fact that mine arrived ready to use in under a week , when i applyed online ( which you must do , for the Quidco money ). Nationwide credit card took well over a Month to arrive . use for purchases only ( don't withdraw cash on it) .

if you want some ready $ cash to start you off , use Travelex online , and price match . see here for details on all things $$$

    http://www.budgetflyer.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/travelex.html

just make sure you pay for Travelex with one of the cards listed in the main site travel money section

    http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/#whosincluded

otherwise you get whacked for around 2% for the privledge of not using your bank for your travel needs   .

if you don't have a nationwide current account then the travelex method is best for cash unless you want the security of travelers cheques. travellers cheques can be exchange at casino cash booths for no fee + ID

it all adds up  , i'm not happy unless i squeeze every cent possible out of my hard earned holiday money

Thanks Trets for the informative response you gave me to my previous message i posted. I was wondering if you or anyone could simplify and explain how the virgin air miles club works (credit card ??), i think i may be getting maybe 2 different things muddled up there but ive read on the first page someone mention a virgin card where you can purchase 1000 air miles for £15??? If thats so than obviously that woudl be alot cheaper deal but there has to be some catch 21 there? or have i just misread it all wrong:confused:

Interesting reading stoneman's comments about the Nationwide debit card and his experience with the exchange rate he was given last month.

I'm still planning on using our Nationwide card next month, but will try to watch the exchange rate closely as we go to see how it all works out when we get our statement. That said, plans like this tend to go out the window as soon as I get to Vegas. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
