We've never stayed downtown but if we ever did (I'm game, hubby not so much) it would likely be the Golden Nugget as it's known to be the best property down there. May also consider Main Street Station as we quite like that property and have heard decent things about the rooms.

We always said the same but one our honeymoon we had two spare nights and decided that we would go back to Vegas early (we had been ther 6 nighst before the wedding and 4 on the end of our honeymoon) anyway I suggested downtown for a change and DWsaid only the Nugget. We stayed two nights then and went back and spent Xmas Eve there last year and loved it, if the GN was on the Strip that is where we would stay its closer to the Bellagio than it is to anything else downtown
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

Hi, back from our trip to LV/family. TWO WEEKS of glorious sunshine and good temperatures. Never won money, but it was fun trying. Enjoyed every minute of Las Vegas, well maybe not the sore feet, and we will definitely go again to do what we didn't have time for. Four nights/3 days is not enough. A week would be good for lounging around the pool as well as shows/sightseeing. We decided to see Jubilee and even DS enjoyed it, no not just the topless part!

You will be happy to know that I did NOT put my seat all the way back or wait for my baggage over the line!!!:D

For the previous post about free wifi- we stayed at Bally's (had pretty much the views you posted ferf) and several came up on DS laptop, one was the Flamingo unsecured, guess the password! Wasn't really strong, but good enough for him to use email/surfing (was this a bad thing to do???). Not that we had that much time.
Didn't go see Donny/Marie but little bro Jimmy was on our flight to Salt Lake City. He sat a couple of rows away and next to us waiting for flight. I am easily impressed.:rotfl:

Anyway, thanks again to everyone's tips/advice, it helped to make a great trip. To all those going soon have a great time!!!

Welcome back t-elle - we had almost the same view we posted from a previous trip too...were in rooms 1894 and then 1827 (I think - had to move rooms mid-trip due to leak in bathroom sink flooding downstairs room!) In laws were in 1893. Wonder how close we were. :)

As for the sore feet - I swear by the foot massage at Hawaiian Marketplace near MGM...love it...had a 45 minute special (for $40) - 20 minutes feet, 25 minutes back...makes such a massive difference between all the walking and being crammed in on the flight there...nice thing to do the day before we depart in preparation for the long journey home.

I agree that a week or more is the best option - at least for us...we had 3 nights in June and even though we'd had 8 nights in March and knew we had 7 nights coming up in October, 3 nights was NOT long enough. :)

We were in 1471, 2 queens. nice room. Asked girl at check-in for a nice view, she then said of course, I can upgrade you to North tower with queen beds. Duh, that is what I booked  . I said thank you anyway.

As for the feet, went for a mani/pedicure with Mom, wonderful!!! They were not looking very nice after pounding the pavements. Will look out for foot massage next time...!
