    Hi
Does any one Know if the hotels on the strip exchange Sterling Cash for US$ . If they do , is the exchange rate a good one , or do they take their bit out of it by giving you a few cents under . thinking of changing a few £K

    thanks

I changed a bit of cash over at the Luxor cashiers desk last year, and the rate I got was slightly better than I would have got here. (presumably they're hoping it ends up back in their hands!)

If you're changing a lot of money, its worth finding out for certain, I'd even email the hotel first asking what their rate and commision (if any) is.

You might be much better doing it here, and having the protection of travellers cheques as well.

When you go to the cage, you can ask what rate they will give you. If you're happy with it go ahead. We have changed both sterling and Euros with no bother.

Just want to know if the rate was higher or lower than home as I have a few £K to change up
  • Right guys,

It turns out Cher is going to be playing when we're in March 09. I'm assuming that these tickets probably won't be available at the half price booths?

Anyway, they are expensive but the key question is are they worth it? Also, can anyone who's been to the Coleseum at Caesars tell me how big it is as I want to know if it's worthwhile getting seats further back.

    Thanks!!

It's the same venue as Bette Midler so the comments recently made would probably stand...I haven't seen Cher (would love to) but from what we saw with Bette there were really no bad seats...I would say in general unless you're a REALLY big fan and want to be right up close to see her that it's not worth getting close seats - most Vegas shows are on a big enough scale that you miss stuff if you are really close.

I doubt she will ever show up at the 1/2 price booths.

  • Hi again,

Yes I was trying to figure out the size etc.

The good tickets which are available would cost the best part of $500 for both of us - we're not that keen.

I got an email from Harrahs giving a code for special reserved tickets but they aren't any different from than the other seats available so I think it's a marketing ploy to make us think we're getting better seats.

    What to do.....

Last year we booked tix for Mamma Mia well in advacne then a week later the same tix were half price via Travelzoo.

I just think it would be a good night for the my partner - not a massive fan but I'm sure she'd enjoy it.

Did you see Bette Midler then?

Where did you buy your tickets?

    Thanks

I found this which I would guess was shot from 2nd mezannine - so maybe will give you some idea...from what I can tell it was shot from toward the top of the 2nd mez, even.

Note that I think he/she is holding the camera a bit low - I don't think that you would have peoples heads right in front of you as it seems in the video

As for Mamma Mia - that show has been available at the 1/2 price booths (and online for buy one get one free) for at least a year - probably 2...Cher isn't anywhere near as likely. Cher rotates with Bette and Elton so she's not always playing Vegas whereas Mamma Mia was on 6 days a week some days 2 shows a day for years and years.

We did and we bought them from Harrah's website (ticketmaster, technically, as that is where it takes you).
