from what I could tell, there was probably 3 additional inches of legroom, which for me, where sometimes my knees touch the seat in front when it's fully upright let alone the knee crushing recline, was a huge plus. Totally worth £3/hour to me.
Where has the extra space come from? Have they taken half an inch away from all the other rows? Cut and shunted the back end of the plane? Taken a loo away?

PS Anyone who presses that recline button in front of me usually regrets it.....sorry but its the most antisocial thing you can do on a plane next to gobbing in the next persons gu pud.

    • IMO no ...the virgin flights are terrible . but off set that against the fact they are cheap and direct. others will weigh in with there views. booking this early you might get the coveted 2 on their own seats right at the back( the only good economy seats you don't pay extra for)
I guess it depends how long you have. We have time over Xmas so are flying VS into SFO, seeing the sights there for a couple of days, then flying United at lunchtime to Vegas for £60.

On way back we are driving to LA.

I couldn't say where they got the room (didn't really expect there to BE any extra room, was just happy to have a pair even if paying for it so I was pleasantly surprised)...I'm not observent enough to tell if maybe they have removed one row on each side of the regular seats but possibly.

As for the recline thing, I've seen this topic become a vicious argument before on Open Vegas...I acknowledge that people will recline, but appreciate some consideration for those behind you (i.e. me)...I usually do not recline - I find it less comfortable as it seems to put more pressure on my tailbone (something I don't need on those Virgin seats) and it does not increase legroom...sometimes I've had to a bit as I can't see my screen due to the angle after the person in front has reclined all the way. On the flight home the woman in front of my husband violently slammed her seat all the way back immediately after her meal tray had been collected...unfortunate for my husband as HIS tray had not been and as a result things went everywhere. I like that the flight attendants now seem to ask people to put their seats up for meals as more than once I've had to ask the person in front to do so so I could have a little bit of space to eat and they tut at me like I'm suggesting they kill a puppy even though they are sat bolt upright eating!

I would also like to beg those who are waiting for the loos or just having a chat at the back to NOT make the last row of seat's headrest your armrest (or arserest). I find that to be the most annoying thing ever - just having fallen asleep only to be jolted awake by someone leaning on my seat or gripping the back of my seat (and my hair) while standing there. How rude.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I wonder if it regularly happens that if you pick it up in Vegas they also post one to you...hmmmm. Thanks again! It was much appreciated. Disappointing about the monorail voucher but we got nearly $40 additional savings out of I think and hopefully its next guardian will enjoy even more from it.

We have picked ours up twice, but only got a duplicate via the post in 2005 (I think).

The other side of the coin. I reclined once on a Mytravel flight only to be shoved upright so violently I hit my head on the seat in front. No discussion, just wham! That was probably the worst thing he could have done IMHO. I can only ask that if having the seat in front reclined causes you problems, that you don't do what that man did to me. Either ask nicely or ask the attendant to ask for you. Don't try to bully your way into getting what you want.

I wont do it violently....just wake you up every ten minutes or so until you decide you may as well put the seat up just to get some sleep. ;)

The people doing it know theres someone behind, and Im sure they dont like someone reclining into them.

 That's awful! Hope you gave him a piece of your mind. I would have. How rude!

As a six foot + guy I know how Ferf feels, my brother and I are always ready for the recliner in the front and brace our knees against the back of the seat in front, the person in front just thinks their seat is broken and won't recline!!

As for the extra legroom seats at the back I seem to remember a discussion here earlier in the year when it was mentioned that they were going to take a couple of the seats out in the back to make the extra legroom.

Re. both the pairs of seats at the back and the issue of seat reclining, on both flights in and out of Vegas I booked the window seat in front of the first row of two - no-one sat behind me, bliss :D
