Hi, another Vegas newbie here. I am just about to book flights to go June or September 2009. A few questions I have..........
June or September?
Virgin are the cheapest direct flights - are they any good? (I saw trets comments about the tired 747's.....)
Where to stay? - is it worth paying the extra for the likes of the Wynn etc?
Are clothes/technology really thsat cheap out there?
Should I hold off on booking the hotel?
Sorry for all the q's just keen to get it right and enjoy it to the max!
Many Thanks0 -
November/DecemberIsn't there an hour difference between Arizona and Nevada after daylight saving comes around?
I think Arizona is the odd state out when it comes to daylight savings. They are the same as Nevada during the winter months. (I've just checked and NV and AZ have the same time difference from the UK)0 -
November/DecemberLas Vegas newbie here! My and 3 mates are off to Las Vegas December 14th for 8 days, we are staying in MGM Grand.
Right, as a newbie i have a few (potentially stupid!) questions.
How laid back/casual dress wise are most of the casino's? (particularly mgm if anyones been there as thats where we are staying)
if we go in a few clubs/bars will i get away with smartish jeans, t-shirt/jumper/shirt? are trainers a big no-no?
How is it going to be best to 'take' money with me. Ie, cash, travellers cheques? just use credit card (i have a nationwide credit card as i read martins article on best credit cards to use), debit card (i have natwest and martin says to avoid using natwest debit abroad)?
If i use debit/credit cards instead of 'cash' i assume the casino's will let me use that to pay for poker tournament entries? (as we are going mainly for poker), but if i do this i would assume i would still need a fair bit of cash even if just for tips for the week.
now for a general sort of travel question: As im going towards christmas i was going to get my parents a christmas present whilst out there, i was planning on buying them a laptop (macbook) as they are cheaper over there than here, will i have major problems in bringing it back (ie, how likely is it that i will have to pay import tax?), also what about clothes as i will be taking a fair bit of money to buy clothes and some other stuff with.
(apologies for the undoubted ignorance and stupidity of my posts but as ive just turned 21 and its not too long til vegas im very excited)
If you want to go clubbing have a look at my friends company https://www.nitetours.com its the best way to do it in Vegas ;-)Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -
Great story doing the rounds about the Virgin Gatwick fleet.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1849951.ece
Stewards also claimed that one of the airline’s jet’s engines was replaced FOUR times in a year.
And they said planes were full of cockroaches and had faulty inflight entertainment and PA systems. The claims were posted on a Facebook group, now removed, called “I Survived On The Alitalia Five!”.
It refers to five Boeing 747-400s bought by Virgin originally destined for the troubled Italian carrier.
Virgin paid Boeing around £400million for the five Gatwick-based jets in 2001.
Also on V-flyer.

I'm sure I read somewhere on here that there is a shop that sells all it's items for $10 but now can't find it - anyone know where it is please?
Thanks)
There are 10 or so Bijou Terner outlets in Las Vegas. The only two I can think of are in TI as mentioned before, and Flamingo near the back of the casino towards the pool area.0 -

That surprised us as we went over the dam...we made a big deal about now it's XXo'clock and now it's....OK, it's still XXo'clock according to the big clocks on either side of the state line. Daylight savings doesn't end in in the US until this weekend (2nd November) so it might be that after that there is an hour difference.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
