We're back and due to the generosity of photome find ourselves with an extra Las Vegas Advisor Pocketbook of Values to pass on if anyone can use it. We have used some of the vouchers (Stratopshere Tower, Ellis Island 2-for-1 for the BBQ/restaurant, Haagen Dazs, Nathan's free hot dog and the monorail voucher is no longer being accepted), but otherwise it's intact including the 50% off up to $50 voucher for various restaurants and the spa, etc. at the Palms.

Also have a part used ACG.

If anyone is going between now and about Christmas (many vouchers aren't good late December due to the NYE crowd coming in) PM me if you would like them. If more than one person is interested I'll either split them (send the POV to one and the ACG to another) or if more than 2 will draw names out of a hat (I am totally trustworthy with this sort of thing :))

My only request is that you only ask for them if you're sure you will be going when they are valid and will then pass them on again if there's time after your trip...just want to be sure that they get the best chance of being used. :)

Glad you got some use out of it, now if anyone has a spare one for 2009?:rotfl:
  • Thanks Ferf - looks like she will have to wait until its released in the UK
  • Hi,

Just thought I'd share this deal I seen in today's newspaper with Barrhead Travel.

    3/12/08 - Man - Vegas 7nts @ Mardi Gras £399

I have since just checked their website and it's showing £405 now but I think it's a decent deal if you're planning going early December.

Hi - just an update on the voucher books - have 4 interested parties so far (mattyha - ACG only, Froggitt, Leigh-Anne and craigbroadman). Will probably leave it open until Friday to give everyone a chance as I know some only check the board certain times and then draw lots and post on Saturday or Monday.

I wonder if it regularly happens that if you pick it up in Vegas they also post one to you...hmmmm. Thanks again! It was much appreciated. Disappointing about the monorail voucher but we got nearly $40 additional savings out of I think and hopefully its next guardian will enjoy even more from it.

an update for travellers on Virgin who covet the pairs at the back.

When we originally booked, we got 2 pairs at the back of the plane - this was April...sometime in June they vanished when they planned to refit the planes with some additional legroom seats and we were reallocated to 4 in the middle...quickly swapped those for a 3 and an aisle seat across from the 3...most annoyed when we checked in online about 11 am the day before to have been shifted back to 4 in the middle with no other options available as we scrolled through the seat map, but that went away very quickly when we saw that they had 2 pairs at the back free (last 2 pairs, one on each side)...so first win of the trip was the pairs on the way out. Moral of the story here - check in online and you never know what might pop up.

On the way back, we checked in online at 5pm the day before and when we saw we were in a 3 and an aisle in front...which was OK as we weren't expecting anything great, there was 1 pair at the back (last row) but we weren't quick enough to get them...we checked in at LAS about 11am or so (knew then the flight was delayed until 9pm but wanted to get rid of the bags, etc. and get back to the strip)...very stroppy man having a go at the check-in staff arguing about how he paid for specific seats (62H&K I think) when he booked and the staff trying to explain that seats were not guaranteed...he went through the whole shebang 'I will take your name and write to Virgin' etc. and then huffed off. I said to the check-in agent, it is disappointing when you get those pairs at the back when you book and then you're moved, but understand it's not guaranteed. The check-in agent said 'I tried to explain to him that on this aircraft we charge for those seats and we cannot give them away for free'...at that my ears perked up - I hadn't thought they had reconfigured any of the planes that fly on that route...'do you have any of those pairs at the back available?' and he said 'we do, but they are £30 per seat'...I then nearly had a heart attack from the excitement while asking him how many pairs he had...he had 2 pairs...which we snapped up...had stroppy man taken one pair and just paid for them there wouldn't have been two left for us...thank you, stroppy man, for a) not ponying up the £30/seat to get the seats you wanted and b) for making enough of a fuss to lead to my conversation that led to finding out that the pairs were available.

From what we could tell, the last row has no additional legroom and will be available at online check-in (unless it's previously been allocated, I suppose, but from what we saw they were available at the time online check-in opened)...the other three pairs on each side have additional leg room and have to be bought...from what I could tell, there was probably 3 additional inches of legroom, which for me, where sometimes my knees touch the seat in front when it's fully upright let alone the knee crushing recline, was a huge plus. Totally worth £3/hour to me.

Hi, another Vegas newbie here. I am just about to book flights to go June or September 2009. A few questions I have..........
    June or September?
Virgin are the cheapest direct flights - are they any good? (I saw trets comments about the tired 747's.....)
Where to stay? - is it worth paying the extra for the likes of the Wynn etc?
Are clothes/technology really thsat cheap out there?
Should I hold off on booking the hotel?

Sorry for all the q's just keen to get it right and enjoy it to the max!

    Many Thanks
    • September is a good month , but hotels will be bit more expensive . June will be very very hot.
    • IMO no ...the virgin flights are terrible . but off set that against the fact they are cheap and direct. others will weigh in with there views. booking this early you might get the coveted 2 on their own seats right at the back( the only good economy seats you don't pay extra for)
    • yes ...at the right price . but most hotels are pretty good .
    • they were a lot cheaper when the £ was not getting used as punch bag by the $ .
    • book your flight early and your hotel late. don't fret about not knowing where you will end up staying till close to your dates . a good idea we often suggest is book a "saver" . a reasonable hotel at a price that is okay. make sure that what you book is not a "no refund offer" . then keep tabs on the deal pages listed in post #1 and pick something good whenyou see it. then cancel the saver . 12 weeks out is generally when the offers appear.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
