MarchI read a lot of trip reports on many other sites and a lot of the time people report how they get comped rooms or at least reduced deals (email promos and mail shots) based on their previous play in various players club card schemes.
My question is - do they actually offer the deals to all players or is it only the american citizens who get the deals. Has anyone here got promos or deals emailed or posted to them based on previous play?
Emailed - occasionally.
Posted - rarely, and only from the Hilton...most do not post to the UK. I know for certain that Harrahs do not as we get some offers but can only see them in our online account - never the posted versions they send to those in the US and Canada.
But we have taken advantage of numerous offers and reduced rates over the last several years by logging into our online accounts...we primarily use Harrahs Total Rewards but did recently see an (expired) offer in our MGM account which we rarely check. For Total Rewards, even if you don't have any offers in your 'my offers' section you can sometimes get comped or reduced rooms by logging in, then going to reservations and putting in your dates. Worth a try, anyway.
Also, stoneman posted that link for Harrahs casinos based on the London Clubs International players club in the UK that's worth checking out.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
They should just make the seats non reclinable IMO.
Couple of !!!!!! in front of us on the way back had both there seats reclined fully from the second they sat down all the way home.
Absolute ignorant gits both of them. If it was you on the way back to heathrow via BA in the first row of the 2 seats at the back on the left on 17th October then you are a bunch of !!!!!!. Naturally I tried to make her journey as uncomfortable as possible but apart from a few glances over her shoulder she just didn't budge. I was hoping she would have said something but no. Its not easy to get your knees away from the back of the seat in front when they are fully reclined. I can't help shifting my position and jamming my knees into it every now and again.
The thing is it means that you have to recline fully too, making you just as ignorant as the person in front.
Why are they ignorant to use a facility provided by the airline
Granted if they recline during meal service then I would ask politely for them to sit upright.
You (and Froggit) sound like the ignorant ones.
Do you also insist that the overhead bin over your seat is for your use only
Thank heavens I do not fly BA.
If you want loads of space then fly a better class0 -
Book before you go or you might be out of luck and not be able to get on a trip, be wary of anything that lands in the Canyon it’s the Grand Canyon West which is not the Grand Canyon National Park totally different areas and in scenery. The Grand Canyon NP (South Rim or North Rim) is where you want to go not the West Rim, going to the wset rim is a bit like thinking that you have been to London when in fact you have only been to Croydon.
Thanks for the advice - from the websites I have looked at most trips seems to go to the West Rim though? Do you have any links to any trips going to the South Rim etc?
We definately want to go by helicopter and the champagne picnic sounds like it would be really nice link here...

Again - thanks for all your advice everyone0 -
Helicopter trips from Vegas will be West Rim only as its much nearer.
There are trips from Vegas by plane, where you switch to a copter at GC Airport, and go down into the canyon.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
As for the recline thing, I've seen this topic become a vicious argument before on Open Vegas
We'll all agree to differ and move on.
So..........seven weeks to Vegas and counting........illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Ahhh I see, well I don't think we would mind if we fly to GC via plane and then do a helicopter trip when we are actually there. That sounds quite good.
I really wana book before I go, but the rest of them don't..... I don't mind if we end up paying a little bit extra by booking when we get there but I am worried that we either won't find availability or end up paying loads more...
Can anyone either tell me I am worrying too much or give me info that I can use to convince them to book now???0 -

.
I've told you a million times not to exagerate !!!
BA don't permit passengers to recline prior to take-off. Lets now drop it before this friendly thread gets out of hand. :shhh: :shhh: :shhh:

6 weeks for me
Comps....... Both times this year I've been offered comps I've asked the individual hotel's promotions dept if they can give me any kind of "offer" for my dates-both hotels offered me comped nights (the latter one with food too) If you have a player card it costs nothing to ask . I've also had email offers from Coast casinos offering comp nights linked to my Coast player card.

Made my journey hell to be honest. I also noticed the people in front of them were not recline at all so they had all the space in the world.
I take it your not 6 foot tall or have the cash to fly a better class then?
I am sorry but to recline for the entire 10 hour flight is ignorant, plain and simple with no consideration for those sat behind you.
Thats my opinion and I stick by it.
It took them less than 30 seconds after the meal was collected from them to recline again. And even though the PA asked everyone to unrecline for diner it took the crew to ask them to do it.
Everyone has differing opinions of course.
As for the overhead compartment, I use and expect to have the width of my seat for my bags as they are even marked with seat numbers. On the way out the people sat in front had stuck their bags over the section of my seat even though the rest was empty above their seats. I mean is it just ignorance or do some people just not have a thought in their brains for other people.

Marchor do some people just not have a thought in their brains for other people.
In general I think it's this...people just generally don't think about how their actions impact others (or in a few cases probably don't care).
My biggest pet peeve is the baggage claim area. In most airports there's some sort of a line, row of dots, something about 3 feet back from the conveyor...if everyone stood behind that line then stepped in when their bag arrived, removed their bag, then backed out at least 3x as many people could be watching the conveyor at the same time and remove bags without the risk of swinging it into someone else stood with their shins up against the conveyor...especially those who don't give you some room when you are OBVIOUSLY struggling to get a bag off and can't because the hoards of people stood on either side of you.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

That is my pet peeve too. I don't think I have been to any airport where people take notice of the lines. The thing is, they make it difficult for themselves too.0
