November/DecemberWhen we stayed at the Grand canyon (outside the gates) we went to Wendy's for our meal because it looked the cleanest and we recognised it. Didn't eat inside the park, looked a bit suspect to us. I have since checked, and Tusayan has a total of 6 restaurants. They may be better than the ones inside the park if you are staying there. Be warned, they all seem to close at 9pm.0

November/DecemberThis is a link to an offer from the Orleans.
We were already booked on a $25 per night deal, but this one has $20 slot credit or table play plus $20 food credit.
Needless to say I have changed.0 -
Each sub-group won the choice of a t-shirt, DVD or computer game...slightly disappointed that it wasn't that everyone won a prize (even a t-shirt or small token) but only one per group - so the 2 groups of 4 got one item each and that was for doing the very best we could have done...but since the prize wasn't the reason we did it it was OK...if I knew this when I booked I would have booked 2 couples.
I think the maximum group size is 12 and they have a minumum, I think 4. we had 10 and it worked out really well as some were better at certain things than others, and others did better at other tasks - so it was a good mix.
As for Bright Angel - we're really not picky eaters and it was pretty dire...Denny's would have been about 5 steps up the ladder from what we had and the service was terrible (my FIL had no cutlery and despite asking the waiter he never brought any - FIL just grabbed some from another table which wasn't too hard, but wasn't the point really). I had lasagne which was lasange noodles, sauce from a jar and a load of cheese on the top...I'm really not picky, but it really wasn't very good. My FIL ordered from the Victorian Room menu (prime rib) which he thought was good (or at least he said it was) but both hubby and I tried a piece and to us it was inedible.
Yes I had the prime rib too, from the Amazon room I think it was. And yes it was awful. Not quite the worst food Ive ever been served, but maybe the level above that. Edible as in you can eat it but tasteless and very dodgy, same went for the Chilli in breab bowl and the Chicken fajita which came with some weird artificial chicken. Its a lovely place but Xanterra really do spoil it. No competition I guess.0 -

I do like the Orleans-nice big rooms-the shuttle to the Strip is quicker than taking the Deuce down to Bill's from even a couple of stops, loads of good food choices and I've never paid full rate there-always an offer on. They even send me comp room offers.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

We like it too.
Have never managed a comp room though. We don't gamble enough.0 -

You're right, buy in £'s... when I booked the $/£ rate was better and it was pretty much the correct conversion. If you bought in $'s now without the code it would cost you £191.50 each.... get it booked before they change their pricing!!!!
I'm going on exactly the same one in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!!
Thanks thats great - unfortunately we are out there on the week commencing 24th November else I would have got you a drink!!!!
However now I just have to convince my mates that we are better off booking before we go, few of them seem to think we will get a cheaper and/or better deal when we are out there - I can't see it myself and the viator Grand Canyon All American Helicopter Tour seems to be quite a good package.
Also.... if we go for a 12:30 one and the tour lassts about 3.5 hours we will get back around 4:00 - will Vegas be dark then because i have heard that its a good experience to fly over the strip at night?
Thanks for all your help everyone0 -
No it wont be dark at that time at that time of year......from memory gets dark around 6ish end November.illegitimi non carborundum0
