Whilst I have your attention Stoneman-it *is* just the 5% code for AA now isn't it ?

Still 5% but look on this page and there appears to be lots of offers for Vegas f you use your mastercard
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Hi All,

I'm a Newbie on this thread (been on the Orlando one for quite a while). I'm looking for an MSE trip to Vegas in December, and would be grateful for any help / guidance and tips available. I've never been before.

I've read through the hugely helpful tips on Page 1 and am now ready to start my search for flights / accom. If anyone knows of any particularly fabulous deals around right now, please can you share them.

    Thanks so much

Well this venetian deal is particularly good. Some dates in December but not all.

As for flights, have a look around to try to work out what is the normal price, then keep looking for better.

Better off with this one... $50 per night credit rather than for the whole stay!!!

That is an awesome deal. Really really something special.

Thing is it expires today. If you have your dates set and are unsure, just book it up.

Just back from 6 days in Vegas and 2 at the Canyon South Rim.

I’m not good at trip reports but a few random musings and what we did:

Southwest cancelled our flight from LA to vegas on the way there resulting in an extra 90 minutes to add to the 10 hour flight and original 3 hour wait. Grrrr. Also cancelled 3 other flights while we were waiting. So obviously the planes are not filling so they just pulled them. Wont use them again. Thankfully they didnt try the same trick on the way back.

October is a nice month to go weather wise. Not too hot not too cold. Its quite plain in the mornings and evenings but still T shirt and Shorts weather, but Jeans and a jumper is ok too depends upon your build I guess.

PF Changs at PH is superb, thanks for the recommendations. We had Wok charred beef, Orange peel chicken, Mongolian Beef and a few other meals over 2 sittings. Best chinese meal I have ever had and both came in arounf $50 each.

Had a few cocktails at the bar through the Wynn reception. Really recommended if you have an hour to spare. I wont spoil it for people but it really is worth going. The cocktails are expensive £15 each but you can get a beer instead.

The grand Canyon is cold cold cold in October. Dont beleive the weather charts, as the wind makes it think jumper, scarf and gloves weather. Which also means a convertible is pretty useless too.

Frys in Town square shopping center south of Mandarlay Bay is a gadget freaks heaven. Spent hours in there and they have a huge DVD section at good prices. Also some good prices for blu rays. The wife picked up the Sexa nd the city limited edition complete series and I picked up Iron Man and the complete Alias boxset.

Freemont street is really fun, excellent atmosphere and the light show was great. We got the American Pie and Born to be wild shows when we were there.

Be careful with the taxi drivers if coming back from freemont street. The car had a credit card payment system in the back with a note saying “when your driver cant break a $100 use this”. Well low and behold, we only had a $100 and he couldn’t change it. First time ever a taxi couldn’t change a $100. All the strip cabs have never had a problem with $100. I ended up having to get the valet guys to change it for what he had $95. Saved me tip for the cab though.

Phantom of the opera was ace, $25 discount by mentioning the Travel Zoo promo, but also if your staying at the Venetian you can have the same discount. AA seats were a treat too.

We didn’t like “O” much compared to Mystere and Ka which we loved. Not worth the money IMO.

Grand Lux cafe was superb as usual. Tuscan eggs for breakfast is my favourite breakfast ever. The Swordfish for dinner and the caramel chicken were both superb.

The venetian didn’t credit our final day $50 dining credit as we didn’t go over $50 for the day. Not sure if it was a mistake or not as they also didn’t charge us for the mini bar we used so I didn't complain. Do check first though if you plan to not spend the full $50. The other 2 days where we did spend the full $50 were credited fine. The credit can be used for all the restaurants and the italian in the casino level food court. The upstairs foodcourt however, in particular Panda express didn’t allow room charging so the credit didn’t apply.

The wife won $45 on the dueces wild machine which she was over the moon with.

The food at the Grand Canyon is dire. Really inedible in some cases.

Also the rooms in the Kachina are noisy if you have an upstairs room and the downstairs people decide to leave the fan on all night. Grrrrrrrr

Loved the fountains, missed the pirate ships again as the queues start 45 minutes out

Loads of construction going on too. Windy up past the Wynn as no building cover caused a bit of a sandstorm.

All in all a good trip.

We had a 3 hour delay there and back and as with other airlines mentioned in various threads it looks like they are cancelling flights and filling up planes to the maximum, on our flight back they even had 3 people in the flight attendant's seats which were so uncomfortable they sat on the floor.
