View isn't important to me, but for first time visitors, I can see the appeal.

a good view is a nice bonus , but not a issue if you get the pool/ desert/ car park . i prefer to be on the strip having fun , rather than watching the fun from a far lol:beer: .

it understandable that as a 1st time visitor you want to see the strip when you wake up in the morning /go to bed at night..to remind you, you are in Vegas:T ... the novelty does wear off though
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Trets I agree (even if it was tongue in cheek) with gt568, the novelty never wears off for me, I love a strip view and always try with $20 to get one, I am gutted if I get a car park view on a low floor. The MGM is the only place I havent got one out of about a dozen hotels.

We agree - which is why we normally try for the north tower as the rooms are (generally) a lot nicer than the south tower. But anytime we DO get a view it is a nice bonus as you said.

We arrive with the in-laws on Sunday and I'm really torn on what to ask for - for their first time, a great view would be nice, but if the south tower rooms haven't been upgraded since last time we stayed in them (4 or 5 years ago) I'm not sure we would be happy there...decisions, decisions!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

They hadn't been done in Sept last year. We were near the top? maybe top floor (room 7311) and the bell hop was telling us that they would "soon" be starting the refurbish the tower starting at the top and working down.

Good morning, I am getting addicted! Yes, anything but car park or rubbish or air-con units would be pretty good I think, and I agree that we will be too busy to worry about it!
    Roll on Sunday!!!!

edit: I don't actually know what tower we are in but booked a deluxe and assumed it was the north?!?!??

Deluxe is the north tower (Classic is the south).

Wait - I just realised that you're leaving Sunday too? Are you on the Virgin flight from Gatwick? We are. :) How funny if we're on the same flight AND staying at the same hotel. :)

At check in I would just ask if they have anything with a nice view and see what they say...remember to keep in mind your other preferences (bed type, smoking or non) and have in your mind how you rank them. Our ranking is non-smoking, king, view - in that order...so if they offer us a smoking room with 2 queens and a view or a non-smoking, king with no view - we'll take the latter.

Hi, I will find something better to do in a minute like wash clothes to take!
We are flying with Delta; not preferred but had the best flights/price for the routes we need. Thanks again, maybe see you there!!! ( I PM'd you earlier.)
