you will probably find Blackjack in the big casinos a little over your budget , they only tend to have $10 minimums during quite periods. however you find $5 blackjack center strip at places like O'Sheas and Casino Royale.
From memory, Mirage had $5 tables overnight.....between 3am and 8am.

    Hello

I wonder if I may ask your expert advice as my head is totally spinning.

We are going to LV on 25 March for 7 nights for DH's upcoming 50th birthday. For the last few days I've been researching hotel prices etc through the links given in the first post.

From my research, I really fancy staying at The Signature but unfortunately our budget won't stretch to staying there for the full 7 nights. (My accommodation budget is £700.) So, I'm looking at something to combine with this hotel.

Last night I thought I had decided on the Mirage but having read the room reviews on Tripadvisor it has now put me off. Now, I'm looking at TI. The best offer they have at the moment is their non-refundable one. (Staying at The Signature for the first 4 nights and then TI for the last 3 I work out the price to be £654 so nicely under my budget. The Signature plus Mirage works out at about £687.)

So, TI, non-refundable offer, (and stop looking at deals!) or Mirage, refundable (and keep my eyes open!)?

    Any other suggestions?

    Many thanks

    Mardrew,

Personally I'd stick with the Mirage and keep your eyes open (or on Trets posts!!) Though I must say this is not a voice of experience as I have yet to visit Vegas (going in May for my 40th!!). I originally booked MGM and Mirage until I managed to get a full weeks booking at the MGM. I do find the Trip Advisor reviews a bit hit and miss as people are more inclined to put their reviews in if they had a bad time rather than a good time. (Just the way people are I suppose). The MGM reviews can be pretty awful sometime......

i'd be tempted to go for the refundable one as well, and keep your eye's out for other offers... not sure if it's mentioned in the first post, but try this site as well - you can just select the month you're going in to see available offers you could try :)

Slots-a-Fun has $3 blackjack most times as well.

Not necessarily the most posh place on the strip but it's cheap. :)

I think I agree with the others - stick with the refundable option...unless you just want to be done with the research and lock yourself into something that you're happy with now, of course. :)

I do agree with Stew in that people tend to write to complain more than to praise. But the other thing to consider is that in hotels with thousands of rooms, there will always be rooms that are getting a bit shabby and next up for refurbishment. I imagine it's an ongoing process at most Vegas hotels so it can be luck of the draw as to what you get. Two people can check in at the very same moment for the exact same type of room and have completely different experiences as one can get a room that was just refurbished and another can get one that is next on the list. Another factor is the smoking vs. non smoking thing - hotels tend to designate floors for each - so again, you may get a really nice, new smoking room when someone a floor up has a somewhat worn non-smoking room. And also, it may be that you ask for a room that's newly refurbished and you get a view of the roof and someone else who doesnt ask for a refurbished room gets a worn room with a stunning view. Really depends on what people think is 'good' from a number of factors.

There are just so many factors that go into it with hotels of this size that sometimes you just have to book what looks best to you and hope. :) Being nice to the check-in clerk and asking for what you really want cannot hurt either.

Wife and I (with the two kids) are going to be in LA for three weeks staying with my dad and his wife in July.

Wife and I are going to Vegas for four nights from Monday 7th July returning on Friday 11th. Flying from a local airport called Ontario Int.

Managed to get four nights at MGM Grand inc return air fares and airport transfer for $740 (£360)

Cant wait, it will be our first time in Vegas
