    Hi, guys and gals,

have you seen the find that someone posted here
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1044613
about cheap flights via expedia.com.au? Has anyone here used them to book their flights? There is some uncertainty about these prices in the discussion but they sure look good. Any experience with this is appreciated - not for now, but for when I return!! :rotfl:

reading the posts it seems to be KLM and Northwest flights that are routed through Amsterdam so dont incur as much in taxes as UK Expedia
  • Try and avoid Amsterdam, baggage is a nightmare. On the way out 1 case was late between 5 of us.It did turn up next day though. on the way back they lost 2 cases between 3 of us (still waiting ) this is after it took us nearly 24 hours extra to get back (flight delay - missed connections) with Klm/Northwest.
    Nice to save.

Cheers for the info Duchy, think we have just got standard rooms but may see how much it is to upgrade to a premium room. Heard that the Gold Coast and Orleans to the strip. Any advice of anything you can get out of the Gold Coast for cheap like upgrades or anything?

If you've booked direct then keep checking the internet sites as the Gold Coast (and the Orleans) will price match any better deal you find on-line. Just cll them and tell them where you saw it and they will look it up and adjust your rate.
If you gamble at the Gold Coast then ask the hosts if you qualify for casino rate the day before you check out-I got 20% off an already discounted rate at the Orleans that way......and if you already have a Boyd player card then call and ask for casino rate beforehand-I did and got 2 nights comped and the other nights at casino rate.....and I'm NOT a big gambler at all.
Just ask for a renovated room at check-in anyway-we got 2 with no issues or extra charge.
Not sure what you meant about the strip from the Gold Coast and Orleans-but the shuttle is excellent-we almost always used it rather than used cabs.

lol I should of worded my sentence right as would have made sense but you got my gist regarding the free shuttle service from the hotel to the strip as it saves using cabs. How regular were they?

We booked through Co-Op travel for the flights and hotel but will ask for a renovated room and see what they say when we check it, was their many disturbances with the renovations going on as from previous experience last year the builder in vegas seem to work all the hours god sends

i too had my baggage delayed for a day at Amsterdam, but that was more down to a connecting flight being delayed and the baggage not 'making it'...

re: the cheapo Expedia.aus thing... chuff it - went for it - fingers crossed (£195 each from Heathrow -> Vegas was something I couldn't refuse)

plus get to use my £1 restaurant.com voucher now* :D

*if all this comes off ;)

Wouldn't hurt to ring ahead and request a renovated room.
I wasn't affected by the noise at all but friends in another room noticed it a bit-ask for a quiet room.
They are renovating floor by floor and just block that floor. It honestly didn't affect me at all-

i am amazed at the differences in prices, across the world,

And scouring the sites can not see any issues, has anyone else spotted any,

Just booked a trip another trip to vegas, (Flights at least £200 cheaper per person for the same airline)

    I found this:

    http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080721015145AAKPmxW

In which someone suggests you may have a problem if you are violating the fare rules/restrictions...so it probably pays to pay close attention to the rules before booking...normally we just click the 'agree' box or whatever without actually reading them. In this case sounds like it's worth reviewing closely.

I'm somewhat of the mind that if this was as good a deal as it seems folks would have known about it before now...though I suppose that recent increases in the UK may be why - perhaps it was always this way, but the difference in price were not enough for people to notice this option?

I'm overly paranoid myself...personally, I wouldn't book it unless I was 100% certain there wouldn't be a problem with it...but I admire those more adventurous than me!

Also, it's interesting as I checked our dates for October (direct with Virgin) on expedia.com.au and they are £12 more expensive on expedia than booking direct.

Interesting that the savings doesn't necessarily apply across the board.
