    Thanks Sturl.

I'll have a look. We've been indirect twice before but thought we'd go direct, but that's a big saving. Hm.

    SOOOOOO excited!

I set off for Vegas tomorrow morning at 6am. It's my first time (as I only turned 21 yesterday)

I've created a blog and will write and upload pictures every day:
    http://suggyinvegas.blogspot.com/

Advice on cool clubs, shows and places to go would be apperciated as so far I just have ya standard holiday guides! Primarliy I'm going for poker. Any tips on the best places to play would be good :D

i like Harrahs Poker room. the NL MT tournaments are at good times ( or they were) and have a good structure . plus they used to have $10 bounties for knocking people out.

the room is a bit basic , but good service for drinks and easy to collect points for your play with the players club.

will be back in about 2 and half weeks folks ...keep posting the pictures

Our party of 5 is off to Vegas next year again in August for 12 days (going to canada for 7 days first to see the family), were planning on staying at the Venetian, I assume the best time to look for venetian hotel deals will be next year, or ?

Quick question, when we stayed at the Luxor last year, their private pool area with the cabana's was very good and relaxing/quiet. As were hoping to stay at the Venetian, has anyone used their cabana's and do they have a private pool with them which is also a bite more quite i.e. for adults only ? I have looked on Venetian's site and their virtual tour but it only shows the main pool

Back home after two weeks spent in Vegas & California (drove from San Diego to San Francisco up Pacific Coast Highway).

Vegas - mental place. Great place to visit indeed, but got to say that if heading back to the States next week then it would be to California ahead of Vegas.

Stayed in Bungalow Suite at MGM Grand viewing out to the Strip (NY NY and Monte Carlo opposite) which was great. Good rooms, plenty of space available, fridge a good help for storing water etc as we certainly needed that in the 120 temperatures.

Mystere at TI was a great show. Had never saw a Cirque show before and was impressed with the majority of it.

Grand Canyon visit via Maverick Heli Tours was amazing. One of the best experiences of my life I would say. Not the cheapest, and I want to go back to visit the South side of the Canyon and see it in its full glory but doing the Heli trip was amazing having never flown in a Heli before and also being short on time it meant we got to experience a lot in the short space.

Stratosphere - not the greatest with heights, and wasn't too keen on looking straight down through the windows on the observation deck but what a view (and can see where all of the work is going on on the strip at the moment). Managed to force myself to do the Big Shot ride as well at the top but not a chance you would get me on the other two hanging off the side of the roof.

And believe it or not I personally didn't have one bet in 4 nights there. The "wife" (still feels strange saying that) played a few machines and a few hands of blackjack with me explaining it to her but that was it. Think the Casino side of it all brings home that Vegas is really a place that shows the good and the bad side of the USA in one place. Felt quite sorry for some of the people I viewed in the casinos (and thats from someone who knows what its like to lose a good few £££'s through gambling).

Anyway. Back to work now. :-(

Back off to Vegas on Sunday for 2 weeks staying in the Gold Coast with direct flights from Manchester - Las Vegas it came to £600 which thought was a good deal. Not too bothered about being off strip as we done that last year as well and with being a group of us going the hotel is only going to be used as a base and gives us extra money to gamble and spend with being a cheaper hotel.

Cannot wait to get back as went this time last year but seems years ago since I was their

We stayed at the Gold Coast for part of our stay last month-the rooms that have been renovated are lovely. We spent a lot of time in the Palms casino opposite when we weren't on the Strip. Really liked the buffets both at the Palms and the Rio. For us the big advantage the Gold Coast had over the Orleans (same owners) was that you could walk to both the Palms and the Rio whereas there are no other casinos within walking distance of the Orleans although their pool is nicer and there's a bigger choice of eating places within it. Also the Gold Coast comp very generously I found on rooms.

    I've booked it!

We're off from 11th Nov to 21st Nov. Flights at £460 direct (in-direct saved £90pp) but we'd get there about 6 hours later so we've gone with direct. I've booked MGM for 5 nights at $625 and Ballys at $295 (stayed in both hotels before) but will keep looking for offers. Who knows where we'll end up.

Off to catch up on Cirque offers and restaurant offers.... :D

Cheers for the info Duchy, think we have just got standard rooms but may see how much it is to upgrade to a premium room. Heard that the Gold Coast and Orleans to the strip. Any advice of anything you can get out of the Gold Coast for cheap like upgrades or anything?

    Hi, guys and gals,

have you seen the find that someone posted here
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1044613
about cheap flights via expedia.com.au? Has anyone here used them to book their flights? There is some uncertainty about these prices in the discussion but they sure look good. Any experience with this is appreciated - not for now, but for when I return!! :rotfl:
