  • Hi we are looking to book a trip to LV in april 2009. We have had a quote for flying with bmi and thomas cook at around the same price. Which one is the best one the long journey? Also we are thinking of flying on easter sunday does vegas get busy at easter, we have been to orlando at that time and it was very busy.

We were in Vegas for Easter last year and I didn't think it was any busier than a normal weekend. We're going shortly after Easter next year (making a stop to see family over the Easter weekend first).

If you are looking at April 2009 be careful of the 20th-23rd as there's a 115,000 attendee convention - one of the biggest of the year. We'll actually be in Vegas over the convention dates but we've been enough times to be OK with it and spend time off strip if it's too crazy and we can get excellent hotel deals based on our previous play so the higher hotel rates won't impact us...so it was an informed decision.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Yowza - we had always heard that the sandwiches at Carnegie were massive - but I didn't expect that.

As for In-n-Out - still trying to figure out a way to justify going there in October when the in-laws aren't burger people at all and the concept of a 'secret menu' might scare them off. :)
If they are not burger people order them a "grilled cheese" it's off the secret menue and is the burger without the burger, wife always has that. BTW on the bottom of the cups there are different proverbs printed.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

You are corrrect...Carnegies deli in the mirage...

First sandwich is the Woody Allen...corned beef and pastrami..

Second sandwich is Tongues for the memories...tongue and pastrami..

I'd kill for one of them now...

How do you actually eat one of those things? I wouldn't know where to start. I think it would overface me, definitely one to share.

I'm looking at a trip in Nov. I've only even been before in Sept. Has anyone been in Nov before, any tips please?
Doesn't seem to be many hotel offers for Nov, is that normal or am I just too early? (Checked conventions and nothing major in the last 2 weeks).

We went last year end of Oct and first week in Nov.......it was scorching hot in the 80's and 90's
If I remember rightly when we booked the best hotel deals didn't come through until Sept for when we were going

Thanks guys. Now looking at 11th - 21st Nov for our trip. Virgin direct flights are £496pp, so just waiting for OH to check tomorrow moring that he can get the time off and I'll be booking up my flights

You know I was on here religiously last year and swore we wouldn't go back until next year :D Still have my PO credit card open too. You know, just in case - lol

I know some of you guys love Signature. I'm a bit put off wth it being a bit further down the strip. Is it worth being that far down? Do you walk use the tram to go back and forward etc? Is it really worth the hassle?
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!

Just a pointer - It is only £369pp flying with US Airways on the same dates.
    A saving of £264 altogether.

If youre not a regular club player, try the Luxor and PH "lunchtime-ish" tourneys - both lowish buyins eg around $50 or so.
