    Hi guys,

    We're heading back to Vegas in March - 11th - 18th.

I know it's way too early to get a really good deal but I was wondering what you thought of Caesars Palace @ $1600 for a Classic Room the week?

I've been checking the prices regularly on the Harrahs site at it was up as high as $300 a night the last time I checked.

    Cheers

7 nights = a tad over £100 a night is okay . with the £ against the $ dollar dropping like a stone you booking it now may see it increase in value
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Not bad, doubt it would go much lower than that, maybe if the economy doesn't pick up they might drop it a bit further. BTW the Octavia tower might be open by then so they will have more rooms to shift. ALWAYS book the lowest price room with them then slip a $50 into your passport and say that there is a nice gratuity in there if they can get you a room in the Augustus tower, well worth the £25, they WILL get you in there
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Thanks for your quick response - much appreciated.

This deal isn't classed as a hot deal so I assume I can still cancel if something better came up?

I take it you guys have successfully got the $50 upgrade?

I just can't imagine asking, but I will if I decide to book this offer. The more time I spend around this site in general the more forward I seem to get in terms of asking for extras, discounts etc.:rotfl:

Lets put it this way. Vegas is based on tips, thats how it works. Everyone expects a tip, from the maid,to the guy who opens your cab door for you. The reservation desk people are on $10 an hour, less than the room cleaners($11.50 at Luxor) I would almost find it embarrassing if i didn't offer them a tip to get me an upgrade. I know it has always worked for me, some have been rejected but I think it is only because thy are not up front about asking for an upgrade, all this slipping the $20-$50 between the CC and the driving licence and not saying anything. Look, just say "there is a nice gratuity inside that passport if you could possibly get me upgraded to the Augustus tower". they can only say no, but they won't if there is spare capacity.

There's a decent sized convention in town the 15th to the 18th which might impact rates toward the end. I've read less than great things about the classic rooms at Caesars so I would be wary of them, though if stoneman's advice is an upgrade could be had without question I would trust his advice as he knows Caesars a lot better than I do. :) We didn't make it to the Augustus Tower (we booked a Forum Tower room) but did only try $20 and did make it to the Palace Tower at least...and we were checking in about 10:30 am. :)

Check the prices for the Forum Tower vs the Classic rooms. On our dates they were pretty similar and the Forum Tower rooms have recently been renovated. At least if the upgrade doesn't work as expected you won't be stuck in an old room.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

do not feel embarrassed about asking for a upgrade , it's how the system works . my method is when they ask for your driving license , say " and here is my upgrade voucher " while handing over the $20 bill with it.The staff know to hand it back if they cannot do anything.

Got this through in email this morning for anyone who's interested in a cheaper Vegas Virgin flight....no good for me as it doesn't go far enough ahead for my trip

Just thought I'd say several dates in October this year are coming out at £448.40......if you have miles+money then its £428.40 which means they are not giving you the full quota off but still a good saving

I've booked Bally's for the 9th to 14th September, $50 for the first 3 nights then $140 for the last two. Weekend rip-off but I couldn't find anywhere on strip much cheaper.

My next question is about flights. We've booked on BMI through opodo flying to Vegas and back from LA for £350. The Opodo confirmation says the flights from LHR to Chicago and Chicago to Vegas are operated by United and the flight back from LA to LHR is operated by Air New Zealand. I tried to choose seats by logging into mybmi, and I logged in fine but it didn't have any options to book seats, but it does say on there the operator for all the flights is BMI. How can I find out for sure? And how should I choose my seats in advance? Also any tips on seats to choose - there are 2 of us. Thanks

Comes to something when £448 is a sale price:eek: There will be a lot of people not bothering with Vegas direct and opting for the indirect route instead. Must say that is how we now go since the demise of MAXjet. Can't remember what it's like to not be able to get off a plane after 7 hours to stretch our legs. I don't think I would go direct now even if the fare was comparable
