Ive just been to 2 travel agetns in the high street for rates, 1.79 and 1.78 is their best. We're not going til next June but im gonna buy up a couple of thousand $'s online now just in case it slips any further.
  • Criss Angel has reportedly said his contract with the Luxor is for a ten year run with an option to renew for five more years after that

I can believe that. When the Monte Carlo opened in 1996, I know Lance Burton was handed a 15 year contract. Makes you wonder how much some of these guys are actually worth!

High street travel agents are the biggest currency exchange rip offs in the world. I'm lucky as I have 2 of the best exchange places in the country within walking distance from work.

Someone on Open Vegas once said that rather than go through the high street, they buy through Travelex and go to the airport well before their trip (they didn't live far from Gatwick). That way they knew they had their cash and didn't have to worry about picking it up before departure. We dont' live far from Stansted and I always think that I might try this one day. :)

Well I thought I had ordered my $'s...

Currency Express have just rung me to say they are unable to complete my order due to my details not passing their independant security checks (which they are unable to tell me what they are)

Strange considering that the details I have given them are bank, home, contact details that havent changed for years.

What i think they mean is:

"Since the rate has dropped yet again we realise that by selling to you at the rate you bought we are losing money. So rather than just tell you this we'll make up some bull reason as to why we cant honour your request"

Looks like we will all be staying at the motel 6 if it carrys on like this, reports in the paper this morning said the pound is heading for $1.55 which would be 1.48 for us.

That's pretty close to where it was when I first moved here. Crikey.

OK, maybe I'll go ahead and buy some next week despite Baz's efforts to help us out as noted above (that did make me laugh). :)

Thing is, it will only take an interest rate cut next month to make the pound even stronger. And that looks quite likely to happen due to the inflation numbers at the moment.

exactly , who knows what it will do . if your happy to lock in $1.84 ish go for it , but i'm not tying up money that could be earning good interest for long periods of time.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
