Hello, I wonder if someone can clear this up for me: Is the Nationwide Flexaccount Debit card the best way to buy show tickets for my trip to Vegas? Haven't got an account with them at the moment, so will have to open one up especially for this trip, if it's worthwhile.

    Thanks :)

The Nationwide flex account or the Post Office credit card will be pretty much the same deal - bank rate of interest and no exchange fee - so depends on whether you want to pay by debit or credit card.

Not sure if you mean to buy tickets when you are actually in Vegas or in advance. Personally, I'm always nervous about using a debit card for online purchases - I always use a credit card if I am ordering something online. My theory here is that if the unthinkable happens, it's not 'my' money that the evil people will get, it's the CC's. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Good point about the CC rather than DC. We were planning on buying in advance. We're going to Vegas for a few days as part of our honeymoon and really want to see 'O'. Didn't want to risk getting there and not getting tickets.

Wonder how long it'll take to get either of those cards through.

For anyone who is exchaging cash before going the Cheque Centre places,(there is at least one in Glasgow where i live), seem to always have a better exchange rate than banks. As long as you don't mind queueing behind people cashing cheques, you should get a better exchange rate.

Does anyone know what the highest value of U.S. traveller cheque is that you can get, is $100 the highest, thanks David

My friend advised me that he got the best deal on his euros from the cheque centre- he had passed and noticed that rates.

He went in and got his money and also enquired to the lady how they managed to have the best rates- her reply- we send someone round town every morning making notes on what rates banks and other places are offering then offer slightly more.

Not bad if you have one close and well worth a look at

Pity.It looks as though it runs only to end December..........

They've probably announced the dates until December to see how it sells. If it sells out every night obviously they will keep the show going for a few years. If it flops and no one turns up.....they can pull it in December and replace it with something else.

It should be good, but you can never guarentee that people will buy tickets to your show, no matter who's in it.

While I understand what you're saying, most Cirque shows only book 3 months out, even the long-standing ones.

Here is a couple of pics from March 2008 - Since everyone is posting pics of Vegas ill post pics of places many people simply over look but are all nearby.

Willow Beach (The most amazing little place where not a single British Tourist can be found - Except for me of course :D)

    dsc00057wf0.b6881730e9.jpg

    Hoover Dam

    Grand Canyon

Another amazing yet pretty much unknown place, Laughlin. Only 40 mins from Las Vegas but the hottest city in the USA.1000021ct6.jpg

About a day North you have the most wonderful resort on the planet - Lake Tahoe (this particular place is Squaw Valley)

On Route to Lake Tahoe you may opt to pass through Death Valley

Now, a little bit further afield you have the vastly overrated Los Angeles

And if you're lucky enough you too may also get to witness such an amazing sunset as i did (followed hours later by the Northern Lights above Nort East Canada)

At the end of the Day Las Vegas is amazing and like you i love it too. But just because it does seem like it is the only place in the vast desert its not.

    Have fun :D

Where is willow beach? I have never heard of that.

Just wanted to question you on your 40 mins to Laughlin...how fast do you drive? I got a speeding ticket last time I went, but it is 90 miles. Do you really think it is the hottest place in USA:confused:

Have to agree about LA....way to big and there are lots of neighbourhoods to be wary of.

    Thanks for sharing your pics

The Nationwide CC and current account take a little while to come through, My Post office CC came within 4 days .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Has anyone used TMS or travel money services?

Its offering 1.85 for when I want to go and Im happy with that, but feel a bit weird sending them £1000 by bank transfer to keep for 8 weeks before delivery.

Is it safe to do this? Am I knackered if they go bust or are they coverd by the FSA or some guarantee? I can't find much on the website.

The travelex rate has gone down by .025 just now.

    Looking grim.
i would be very wary of doing a bank transfer with a unknown company. for what your saving against a high street exchange , it's just not worth risking £1000. i doubt you will have any way of getting your money back if the unthinkable happened .

Go to Marks and Spencers , at least you know you will have no problems.

Travel Money Services also called Crown Currency Exchange....have a look in the US currency thread, several people have reported good reviews on this company...especially for forward buying currency

They were also featured on BBC The One Show on 11th June as one of the best travel money providers
