    Regarding deals on fatwallet...

Am I the only goober out there who has always shied away from it because most times I am too lazy to trawl through the thread and never realised until today there is a summary on the first page?

    I am so stupid. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Ferf1223,

I first bought a brits guide for Florida and loved it for the reasons you stated, all the little tips and stuff, thats why I bought one for Vegas, I just slightly preferred the Unofficial guide, but like I said before i'm nuts for guide books devouring each one for that little extra something.

Best tip for guide books is the ones with a pop up map, always buy one of those for wherever i'm going, never got lost with one of those yet!!

    Stew

PS. I never realised about the summary being on the front page either, so i'll be stupid with you!!

Thanks a lot to KarenG, ferf & trets for their replies about the green immigration forms.

I had a look in my passport last night and its definately NOT stapled in there.... I flew with MyTravel - does anyone know if they usually take them on boarding?? Im really cross with myself that I didnt think about it at the time. I simply cannot recall them doing this....

I have printed off what to do if/when I find them - I dont think I will though. I wonder if I can find out before we go if all is well or whether I should just leave it!!

Reason being - we could very well experience some questioning when we enter the US this year as my partner is having radioactive iodine soon (to treat a thyroid problem) and this usually sets off the american radiation sensors - I recently read a horror story where one guy who had this treatment was surrounded by sniffer dogs and searched (you know where) apparently they are VERY stringent about this since 9/11 (and rightly so). Our doc is going to give a letter for us to take, but Im sure we could really do without the "green form" being an issue also.... fingers crossed and heres hoping!!!!

Could they refuse us entry without having the green form? Im getting more worried now!

I wouldn't worry too much - chances are that they removed it before you departed and you didn't notice because you had such a fabulous but exhausting holiday in Vegas.

Unless you happen to find it of course...but if you don't have it and don't know what happened to it, the most likely thing is it was removed as it should have been...if it was not removed at the airport, and you later removed it then you might have a problem...but I think it's more likely that it will all be OK.

    Thanks Stew, on all points.

As for the pop up map, we have one for Vegas and love it - not part of a guidebook, but a separate pop up map. Problem is it's about 5 years old now and so out of date! Must get a new one.

Keep hearing about 2-1 buffets and shopping vouchers. Is it like Florida ? Where the coupons are in booklets all over the place, or do you have to send for them. Need some for all the buffets.
My wife is a fan of Alaskan snow crabs claws, bigger the better, anyone know where they are plentiful, and I know Alaska is the first answer that comes to mind:confused: .

stop worrying.. you will end up like me :o .there is nothing you can really do to check if it was handed in so just leave it and don,t make a problem where there isn't one .

if you dont remember ripping them out with the staple in then it is highley likely that My travel took them when you handed over your passports at check in.all airlines are expected to do this , My Travel included .

if they didn't and they have been lost , and you get asked , just say that you think they were taken by your airline last trip ( not a lie) . if you have a bank statement ect to prove you were in UK before your 90 days , i would say the chances of being refused entry are next to Zero .

airlines have been known to lose these things as well as not taking them.

i will 2nd The Unofficial guide to Las Vegas as the best guide book you can buy. you might even find a few phrases and quotes from it in my guide :p

    alaskan_king_crab_legs250.jpg

Bellagio buffet has unlimted supply of Alaska King Crab legs (at dinner at least) . they are prepared ( cut in half) so no need to fiddle about breaking them open. i was a bit cautious about getting too many on my first trip up and only got 2. when i sat back down i saw loads of people with plates piled high with them , i went back and did them same , must have eaten 20 + legs of the best crab i have ever had.

you will wince when you cough up for the Bellagio buffet , but when you get in there you will know it was money very well spent. you cannot eat this well for less anywhere IMO
save room for dessert , the 5 different ones i had were as good as anything i have ever eaten

Mirage buffet also had good crab on last vist

don't know how you get 2for1 for Bellagio , but you can often get deals for buffets by joining players clubs. Harrahs buffet for example ( as well as a free blanket , and 2 $10 tickets for excellent Mac King show) . good bufets often don't need 2 for 1 offers to get people in , but check out all free magazines to see what you can get.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Yes there are coupons all over the place..Whats on magazine has a few.

best bet though is to buy the American Casino Guide about $16 in the station casino gift shops (cheaper from walmart I think) or you can get it from Amazon Uk for about £8..loads of coupons in there I never go without one.

    http://www.americancasinoguide.com/

Another good one is the http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/whyjoin-pocketbookofvalueslist2008.cfm for this one you will need to join online for $37 and then pick the pocket book up from their office in Vegas..I did last time I went without any hassle and also bought the ACG from there to.

In the two weeks I was there last I didnt pay full price for any of the buffets I had, although there are no coupons for the top price buffets Wynn, Bellagio etc.

Harrahs has huge crab legs which were good but most I have tried have been tasteless and almost still frozen.

Steff, I agree with the others, if it's not still in your passport chances are excellent it was taken without you realising. Please don't worry :)

Re Brit's Guide vs Unofficial Guide, I second the recommendation for the UOG to Vegas - it's full to the gills with detail and an entertaining read. I am a travelguide junkie though and would probably buy both :o
