Luxor deal here courtesy of travelzoo (link on travelzoo goes direct to Luxor's site).

We booked one night for our trip in March - we aren't fans of moving hotels completely, but we usually have one night somewhere new and just pack an overnight bag and leave everything else in our room.

We chose the upgrade to a pyramid spa suite for $104...we've always wanted to stay in the pyramid though I have read plenty of reviews that say that the rooms are quite worn so we will manage our expectations...but I want to ride the inclinator and have a slopey ceiling...and the spa suite upgrade seemed worth an extra $35...it may be a bit frivilous, but we've never had a suite in Vegas (other than Rio, which doesn't really count in my opinion).

Re Brit's Guide vs Unofficial Guide, I second the recommendation for the UOG to Vegas - it's full to the gills with detail and an entertaining read. I am a travelguide junkie though and would probably buy both :o

I think we'll do just that - get the Brit's Guide for my in-laws and get the Unofficial Guide for us and swap. :)

Keep hearing about 2-1 buffets and shopping vouchers. Is it like Florida ? Where the coupons are in booklets all over the place, or do you have to send for them. Need some for all the buffets.
My wife is a fan of Alaskan snow crabs claws, bigger the better, anyone know where they are plentiful, and I know Alaska is the first answer that comes to mind:confused: .

For shopping, I always print a few of these and have them with me:

    http://www.destinationcoupons.com/Nevada/Las_Vegas/shop_lasvegas/coupon.asp

Same voucher is good at loads of different shopping centres - you normally take it to the information desk and they give you a book of vouchers for varoious stores.

And here's one for the 11% discount at Macy's - we normally show a UK passport or driving licence to get it, but looks like with the voucher you can show a room key instead.

As Trets said signing up for the slot clubs will usually get you some goodies. The thing to consider there is that many of the casinos in Vegas are owned by the same companies. So once you sign up for the slot club at one of the casinos in a group you can't sign up again at another casino in the same group. Different casinos in the same group have different freebies for signing up so one may appeal to you more than another.

    If you go here:

    http://www.advantageplayer.com/lasvegas/index.html

And click on slot club sign-up bonuses you can see what different casinos are offering to get an idea of the freebies on offer.

I see that Bill's is still showing a free funbook and if it's the same one we got in November it was excellent - loads and loads of decent vouchers in there, many for buffets in the HET group (including Paris and Rio which are generally regarded as quite good) and lots of free or 2-for-1 drinks. And while the vouchers are for most HET properties, the Bill's players club is separate from HET's Total Rewards - so you can sign up at Bill's and then at one of the HET casinos.

we've just ordered our 2008 ACG and LVA guides which photome suggested - we are having the LVA Pocketbook of Values posted to us (charge was $6) as we don't pick up our car until the 2nd day of our trip. We're going 3x in 2008 so while we normally get the ACG, we decided that this year we can justify the LVA membership as well. Especially as we plan to make use of the Palms voucher for 50% off up to $50 at the Mexican restaurant there. :)

after approx. 15months of leeching info off this thread and it's predecessor, it's finally time for me to sign up to MSE and give a little back (although, i'm not really interested in the rest of the site! just love this thread!)

Just my opinion on Brits Guide... fantastic! Haven't read the unofficial one but can definitely vouch for the brits guide.

Just booked the new NYNY deal (dont think it's been mentioned on here before - only got announced 5/2):
    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=010&host=promo&code=NYNYH&kbid=374305&sub=vhh01

It's prices from $89 p/night now with some 2 for 1 vouchers thrown in too (cocktails, breakfast etc etc) plus a park avenue strip view upgrade.

Was originally going to go for the no refund (widescreen view room) @ Excalibur but this works out at just £30 extra for the 3 nights we are there so we decided to go for it as we liked the casino and at least we can change our mind and cancel if necessary :D

    Hi,
I've been reading the first posts and some of the discussion here and I am really tempted to go to LV. My OH and I don't like gambling, but LV seems to have so many things to do that we would enjoy: roller coasters, cirque du soleil shows, etc. So I was wondering:

    - are there any offer for the cirque du soleil shows? on their website the shows cost around $100-$150

    - the drive to and from the Grand Canyon is 10 hours!!! Has anyone rented a car and driven there, staying in the area? Is there anything else to do there?

    - Hotels? I am very picky with hotels and don't like not-recently-refurbished ones, so are there any, not expensive, 4-star-type hotels which are not run-down?

    - marrying in LV: I don't fancy a wedding back home, since I have never dreamt of a white dress and fancy/expensive wedding and in Vegas it seems so ... different. Is it romantic at all?

    Thanks in advance.

PS: I promise I will go and buy a guide book (brits/non-official) and ask more informed questions next time. Sorry if these questions are just repeats.

when you thinking of going pcg2001 - there are sometimes offers on cirque stuff but it's about timing really :)

we did the GC run in less than 10 hours - more like 8 (there and back) - this time round though, we're going to stay at the Bright Angel Lodge which has a rim view... so we're likely to get there around lunch, mill about for a bit then move on to LA the next morning

re: inexpensive 4* hotels - again, prices tend to fluctuate daily and there's offers all the time (trets usually posts them) - but will depend when you're thinking of going really and how much you class inexpensive as :) we're staying at NYNY and it's costing £55 a night for a room with a strip view for example

lastly... weddings... if we weren't already booked in for tying the knot in the UK, we'd definitely do it over there - was a lot nicer and nowhere near as tacky as you'd probably imagine. I remember Mandalay Bay had a lovely looking wedding 'chapel'(?) for example

They do crop up, but you can't count on them really. Mystere is usually available at tix4tonight at about 20% off if you get there early. It's not a guaranteed thing, but we have seen them offered a number of times.

Otherwise it's hit and miss. Last year there was a Summer of Cirque promotion through Ticketmaster which included all shows except O if I remember correctly - $50 each. We got 2-for-1 tickets for Ka for our trip last November. Very occasionally O and Ka end up at tix4tonight but it's quite rare.

I would suggest signing up for the TMDEALs email as well as the travelzoo email. Those seem to be the best sources for the occasional Cirque specials.

    http://www.ticketmaster.com/channel_partner/?brand=tmdeal

Use 89109 as the zip code

    and

http://shows.travelzoo.com/las-vegas-shows/ is the link to the current offers and you can sign up for the weekly email of their top 20 offers on the main page of their site (any big specials for Vegas shows seem to turn up in the top 20).

In both cases quantities are limited - so best to keep an eye out.

But if you have your heart set on one or more Cirque shows may be best just to book them through the box office.
