( the very long waits at McCarren to check in for example)

another reason we check in at 10:30-11:00am and head back to the strip...there's only a handful of others doing the same thing...just hope it doesn't catch on with the masses. :)

    Thanks folks,

after the responses I think ill just go with virgin. They are about £550 so about £300 cheaper than the direct BMI flights. So unless the BMI Flights are worth an extra £300 each? (Which i doubt)

When i flew with Virgin in January to Florida the plane was only about 1/4 full. We could sit where ever we wanted and so leg room wasnt a problem.

    So my questions are;

How full are the flights around November? Im leaving on a thursday and back on a Sunday.

Any chance of a cheeky upgrade on the day?

Can I book my seats in advance? Would love emergency exit or end of section seats as im quite tall and would like as much leg room as possible.

upgrade ...very very doubful unless you splash the cash for Prem Economy .

you can pre book your seats after you have booked , using the website . don't hold your breath though , the only seats you can pre book that are better than the rest are the few rows of 2 on the window sides right at the back and they are usually snapped up very early.

you will be able to see how many people are on the flight by seeing how many seats are pre booked . but i would basically be prepared for it to be full and anything else is a bonus.

if you want exit row seats you cannot get them until check in and they go fast too ( probably the day before the flight at twilight check in ) , also they charge for these too. bulkhead seats usually get given to people with small children again only allocated at check in.

When i was transferred onto Virgin from Maxjet in December my miles weren't awarded. After several emails back and forth, they had a dispute with the name and my passport and my Flying Club account. I sent them a scan of my passport several months ago and the miles have YET to be added to my account!! I keep emailing them but they say they can't do anything about it until i give them a reference number, which i don't have as Maxjet transferred us!!

It's driving me round the bend!!!

Ok this is something different but it does what it says,

Buffet's on the strip, as you are all aware they are normally fantastic, usually between 3-4.30pm they flip to evening buffet, so if like me, your clock has not adjusted, go into the buffet say 4pm and get a starter, then as you as sat there they are putting all the evening meal buffet's out (so fresh food!)

Staff do not have an issue with this, and it saves you on average $5 per person , they do not kick you out!

So as long as you have your food early go for it! - Last night there was a long queue in PH waiting for the change-over

Remembering from 10pm most places start their night-time services (Steak $10)

    Taxi's on the strip,

Think this was mentioned before, "Always say you have been here before otherwise they take you around the world" -

If you take the airport buses, call at most hotels (Speak to your hotel) it will cost $6 per person, compared to some taxi's costing $30+

Though the shuttles stop at many hotels - so depending on where you are in the drop-off order, you can spend a lot of time on a bus...taxi to most strip hotels won't cost more than $15-$20 so for 2-3 people it's totally worth the time saved, I think.

I believe that Virgin are going to be upgrading their 747's from Gatwick with new interiors withing the new 12 months.

Hope that is true and that by June next year they have and I can then travel without any fears of inferior service/quality.

Ive got flights on virgin to Shanghai, Tokyo and Miami in the next 6 months (all upper class) so it will be a good yardstick to measure the service on these compared to that offered for their Vegas route.

According to a post by a member of Virgin's staff on v-flyer.com, the refits due next year have been postponed due to the current economic climate.

So the Gatwick fleet will have to wait a little longer for the new seats etc.
  • Heading off on Wed to Vegas for my brother in laws wedding.

Having the wedding at the Bellagio so will be able to tick that off my tick list - planning to do the following

    - Indoor skydiving
    - Hire a car and drive to GC & do skywalk if we can?
    - Do a show fancy Penn & Teller or Blue Man Group
    - eat at mon ami gabi
    - ellis island steak dinner
    - Hardrock gamblers special
    - Shopping at outlet shopping centre

    anything else anyone could recommend?

Arrive Wed 10.30 pm and come home home Monday.
Up to three or four of these can be done in one day I think.

I wouldn't do the Skywalk purely based on the reviews I've read pretty much everywhere.

As for other things to recommend, difficult to say without having more of an idea what kind of things you enjoy. :)
