MarchWe don't actually gamble (well not that much), but do like slot machines; would that count towards being "players".
(as usual!)
Playing slots is gambling. We ONLY play slots and have had great rewards out of various slot clubs (admittedly we do play quite a bit).
The HET (Bally's, Caesars, Paris...etc) casinos are very kind to slot players - especially on rates for a return trip...MGM aren't as kind but it is worth signing up and using your card.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AprilWent to NY from Dublin, had to stop in shannon though.
Flew from London to Florida direct and took 11 hours.
Just found a thomas cook flydrive.
It says:
Your price includes
2 x Adult £1,140.00 2 x Transport Supplement £160.00 2 x Atol Protection (Apc) £2.00
What is Transport supplement??
Thomas cook and My Travel are one in the same . they will be stopping the weekend flights when the summer is over as per usual , going back to Wednesdays only. the My Travel site is much easier to navigate . the prices tend to get lower the closer to departure you get with the exception of summer months . it becomes a game of nerves to how low you let it drop as you risk it selling out . you can search back through this and the old thread for my regular price checks . i don't bother doing them in June to beginning of September as they don't tend to drop . beware the baggage allowance though , and look into other options for the included car hire as the one they throw in comes with no insurance , and you cannot easily buy 3rd party insurance to get around this .
Transport supplement is probably a fancy name for fuel surcharge , due to high price of oil ect.
as for Virgin ...yes the flights to Las Vegas are bad still. they are direct though , but i am still sticking by my vow to never get on the Gatwick to McCarren flight again ( at least until they get new planes ) .
Virgin into LA is a complete contrast though ..great planes , great seats ect. plus they operate 2 a day i think, so more capacity. also check out the BMI prices for LA posted very recently on this thread. also Air France fly direct to LA from Heathrow . if it were me i would go into LA and the drive to Vegas after a day or 2 in LA but i have been to LV a few times . don;t see the drive to LV as Chore , see it as a adventure :T .One point, seeing a picture every now and then is such a treat, sg houldnt we psot more???
i totally agree... we have got a little picture shy recently , so how about we get some snaps up folks    :A

November/DecemberIm thinking flying to LA. Stay 2 nights. First Day wont get much done after the travel, 2nd day go to universal (i was in universal in florida in January, are they very similar or is it still worth going too?)
Then wake up on day 3 and head straing to Vegas and stay 7 nights before returing to LA for one final night before flying home.
A couple of questions;
The best planes to fly to LA direct? I.E. the most comfortable? I wouldnt mind paying a bit more for a bit more comfort but not the crazy prices you see for buiness class.
How long is the drive from LA to vegas? I was told 4 hours, is that accurate?
Thanks for all the help so far!!0 -

Funnily enough had this conversation with a lady we bumped into at Universal today who we last saw last week in Vegas (total surprise as neither knew the other had plans for California after Vegas)-four hours if you don't mess up-LA roads are really confusing so well worth downloading California and Nevada maps or having Sat Nav in your car. We flew as the price was good enough. If you're planning to do just Universal then it may be worth flying and using SuperShuttle to get you to your hotel from the airport.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

If you have been to universal florida, why not try Knotts berry farm (a small and friendly theme park), disney or for really big scary rides, six flags magic mountain (a few miles north of LA). Cant tell you the difference between the 2 universals as I have only been to California.
I have driven LA to Vegas a few times and flown it.
Drive shouldnt take more than 5 hours, prob about the same time as flying, once you add on check in and getting to and from the airport.0 -
Universal Orlando has very similar attractions to the one in LA, I agree with Photome, try Knotts Berry or Disney. Six Flags I would only reccomend for those who REALLY REALLY like coasters. (X2    )

JulyMorning all,
Just received the following deal via Travelzoo - take a look -
The Orleans Hotel and Casino just released one of best deals of the summer season in Las Vegas. Stay Sunday to Thursday for only $29 per night, or stay Friday and Saturday for $60 per night. We'd usually expect to pay well above $100 per night to stay at a AAA 3-Diamond hotel in
Las Vegas over the weekend.
Unlike most Las Vegas deals, this offer is valid nearly every day through Sept. 25. It also includes a Funbook with more than $150 worth of coupons.
The Orleans offers FREE shuttle service to The Strip, which is located a mile away. Its oversized 450-square-foot guest rooms are sometimes referred to as "petite suites," because each features a separate sitting area. Along with the casino and a spa, on-site amenities include a bowling alley, a Cineplex, a showroom and more than 10 dining options.
Blackout Dates: Aug. 8, 9; Sept. 19, 20
Click here for more information and to book directly with The Orleans. Or call 1-800-675-3267 and mention promo code TRC2008. You must book by Aug. 8.
I wish I could take advantage!!!!!
