I might look at Flying into LAX, how far a drive is it to Vegas? I heard 4 hours?

Maybe I could fly to LAX, spend a day or 2 in LA, then drive to Vegas for 6/7 days and Back to LA to Fly home? Actually that sounds a lot more hassle than an indirect flight with a stop in chicago or philly.
Go for it! You're right, it probably is more hassle but at least you get to see something a bit different... you're right as well, don't bother spending too much time in LA ;) just land, go to sleep, maybe go Universal Studios or Santa Monica the next day, then get driving :D

If you hit it at the weekend as well, you'll save the fury of the legengry 'expensive Vegas Hotel Rates' (ok, they're not that bad, but you'll save a few quid :D ... which you then spend on the car :D )

another option that gets mentioned is you can fly from LA -> Vegas for about £50'ish (i think)... however you dont like flying so maybe ditch that option :)

I cant stand planes, 10 hour flight to NY nearly killed me!!

Are there any other direct flights to Las Vegas from anywhere in the UK/Ireland?

Just to confirm the only direct flights are BMI from Manchester and Virgin from Gatwick? And is the info on the first page of this thread still true that the virgin planes are bad? I flew with virgin to florida last year and the plane was fine dunno if it was the airbus or 747 .

theres also a daily coach service between Vegas (pick up/drop off at Luxor, Golden Nugget, Riviera) and LA, or San Diego, Anaheim if you dont like flying/driving

    Hi Sue,
Aside from buying the ACG you can find coupons all over vegas. A few of the best places are:-
1 In the seat racks in taxis - there are booklets with lots of vouchers and coupons inside.
2 In the magazine stands in most of the casinos - they have free maps and quite a few coupons in them - they tend to be by the entrances. If you are planning to go to Ellis Island Casino there are loads of magazines/coupons etc in their entrace!
3 When you sign up to some of the Players Clubs you get what they call "Funbooks" which include loads of coupons for free buffets and discount vouchers of certain things.
Thats about it really! happy hunting :)
    Steff;)
    Thanks Steff, :A
was wondering what funbooks were - and now I know. I thought that they were probably for kids :rotfl: to keep them quite! If you sign up for the players club at the hotel (we are staying at Caesars and MGM), do you do this at the front desk when signing in, or in the Casino itself? We don't actually gamble (well not that much), but do like slot machines; would that count towards being "players". (as usual!)

Totally off thread I know, but last year when we originally planned to go it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary (how we got there we'll never know ;) ) and was planning to re-affirm our vows. Do you know if we would be able to arrange this whilst we are there - 10 days in total. Could we ask advice at the hotel on this? Might change my mind on this if Hubs keep saying "no drag shows". icon7.gif

    hi Sue

You don't even have to use the players card... they're free and you just flash your passport to get them. Then as Steff says, you get all the free stuff and you can walk straight out of the casino if you want :)

They'll be a 'players card' kiosk in every casino (well, on the strip anyways to my knowledge) :)

Your check-in desk will also be in the casino :) (well, perhaps on the outskirts) :D so you get to here all the noises the machines make whilst you're checking in ... that will get you thirsty for some gambling :D lol

Luxor, use the monorail, you can freely move around $12 per day unlimited travel,

The only monorail that serves Luxor is free...the main monorail that is $11 or $12/day that serves the east side of the strip starts at MGM which is a bit of a hike from Luxor, though there's a bit of a shortcut if you go in the main MGM entrance and go down to the Star Lane Shops. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
