Folks been looking for flights all day and havnt found any great bargins so far.

Im planning a trip someime before christmas and baiscally i can go anytime in september, october, november and early december but i have to book flights in the next 3 days.

Are there any good sites for finding cheap flights over a long period like that? The most i can find is making the dates flexible by 3/7 days. I dont care when I fly but would rather fly direct as I will have to fly from Northern Ireland to england first anyay and dont want 3 flights there and 3 back.

    thanks!

if you must go direct your better off searching the airlines own websites 1st. BMI , Virgin and My Travel ( search for a "sun" holiday to las vegas and you get a fly drive option without accomidation ..post back here if you go for this as it includes car hire that has nasty strings attached if you use it) .

    other than that try here

sorry Ferf, meant just MSE trip reports :) that could work though if Trets managed to keep the first post up to date with them :) either that or a seperate thread but it would have to be kept clean... or, the first post could have links to trip reports in it?

i dunno - just thinking out loud i guess :D

Steff - you got any pics you are gonna post? :)

yep you could either start a new post that i can link too on post # 4 along with the countdown clocks , or just write them on Tripadvisor and the likes and i will link to them . either way anyone who has a trip report PM me the link and i will start a little space for them in post #4 ;)

Thanks ferf: looks like I going to have to up the spending allowance. If I were to order an ipod via Amazon whilst I'm in LV do you think they would delivery it to the hotel? Just a thought ....

Sorry to post this as a reply; but I've been going round in circles trying to find out how to post a new thread. But have managed to find previous posts that answered quite a few of my other questions. :j

Can anyone help me out with these ones:
Booked a flight with a stopover in Newark outbound, and Houston return. With regard to duty free, I know that I shouldn't buy any liquids at Gatwick, but would it be a better idea to get duty free at Newark? We have a 2 hour stopover there which (hopefully) should be long enough. But I'm not sure if we will be "allowed" into the duty free  if we aren't still classed as inter-continential (or whatever the term is) travellers.
Same principle coming back. 3 hour stopover at Houston. I'm assuming that there's a duty free shop at Houston? Has anyone stopped over there?
I can't believe the luggage allowance with Continential Air :j But again another question here. As we are breaking the journey both ways: I'm just concerned that we'll get hit for extra charges (i.e $50 for extra cases etc). Again

Coupons: I'll take a chance and try to get the American Casino Guide in LV, but can anyone let me know where are the best places to find coupons. I love Coupons ;)

Just like to add that finding this forum was a total joy for me. We had booked to go to LV last year but unfortunately, 3 weeks before we were due to go I had quite a serious accident and we had to cancel the whole trip - thank goodness for travel insurance! Doing my research here before rebooking has saved us over £1000 - all that extra dosh in our pockets. Thank you all :A

Just thought of another thing I really want to buy an ipod, is it better to wait and get one in the US? I can't find a US based site sellling them so can't compare prices.
Sorry this has turned into a bit of essay.....

i have purchased miniatures in UK and had no problem when transferring flights in US . ask the duty free people at the UK airport , they will advise you . you will probably not find a duty free shop when changing on outbound journey as you will most likely be in a domestic terminal.

as for luggage allowance , you allowance is for your entire journey with the airline , providing it is all under one booking / booking ref number ( i.e you did not book the all the flights separate) . therefore you cannot be over limit in on a 2nd leg of a flight if you were not on the 1st leg.you can check your booking here

    https://www.checkmytrip.com/plnext/XCMTXITN/CleanUpSessionPui.action?SITE=XCMTXITN&LANGUAGE=GB

    or here

    https://www.viewtrip.com/

to see that all your flights are under one booking ref. if in any doubt call your airline .

when you arrive in Newark you will go through Immigration , collect your bags , go through customs and then head for the connections , where all you will most likely do is dump your bags on a conveyor with the tags ect from your UK check in still on . they usually have someone about who plonks them on the correct conveyor for you. (there is no need to go through the entire check in process a 2nd time). after doing this you and your hand luggage will go through security again , before you go on to your connection.

on the way back your bags are checked to final destination @ Las Vegas , so you won;t see them again until you arrive home in the UK.

you will probably have time to visit duty free on way home connection , just don't expect the shops you get in Spain ect, most tend to be more the size of a newsagents from my experience . when you buy your duty free , you are given a ticket which you exchange for your purchases after gate boarding , just before you board the plane.

as for a I POD why not go to the Apple store in the Fashion Show Mall . it is deep within the mall , and a bit hard to find , but anything purchased there will have a worldwide warranty so any problems with it back home and you can take it to the local Apple store

Hey all, basically we've just booked a room at luxor - PYRAMID SPA ROOM, for 3 of us (2 queen beds) as this seems the best we can get for the money we've budgeted at the moment. We are paying £425 for 9 nights in this room each - http://www.luxor.com/hotel/hotel_pyramid_spa_suite.aspx
gotta say i like the idea of having a spa in the room too.
I know the BIG draw back is its not as such central but could anyone share there experiences with the place and what they thought of it overall?
Its not untill September 16th that we go so if untill then a better offer comes up then we can always change but for now thats what we have :)
Any reply would be gratefully received :o

The Luxor is fine , Big rooms from all the reviews i've read . Casino is Huge though , you will probably get lost a few times. good , cheap poker room if you like cheap MTT's . Location is only a issue if you take the free monorail back. it completly skips the Luxor heading south meaning you have to go all the way to Mandalay bay , and change trains to head back north to get to the Luxor.

would i stay there ??? if the price was right ...sure.

can anyone tell me if they have in-room safes at the flamingo in the luxury strip view rooms as it does not say on the website.
    thanks
Yes, they are free to use as well, you just put in your own pin code
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

The Luxor used to be our favorite hotel till we could afford to go higher up. Always loved the spa suite, the spa sits in the window giving you a wonderful view. big sitting room, nice huge bathroom as well. you will love it. Luxor has to be the most impressive entrance in Vegas, as you walk into the atrium and see the statues, wow, the sheer size will blow you away. The inclinator (thats funny, my spellcheck couldn't find that word) are a blast as well, going up diagonally is weird. BUT WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE OUTSIDE WITH THOSE HIDEOUS ADVERTS

We loved having the spa tub (warning: don't put more than a very tiny bit of shower gel or shampoo in it because otherwise the bubbles will be completely out of control). The pyramid rooms are cool in that how often will you stay in a pyramid? The spa suites are nice as they have a separate area with a sofa and 2nd telly - so it does like the sleeping and lounging areas are a bit separate...the room is set up exactly like the photo - though the furnishings are a bit worn now. Because of the shape of the room the room is quite dark, but otherwise it's a perfectly nice place...the spa tub was the best part for us, though. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
