wow Steff - that's one hell of a lengthy tripadvisor review :) will read that whilst I have me lunch :D

it's a shame there isn't somewhere all the MSE'rs can put our trip reports (no matter how big or small) cos they seem to get lost in this thread and could be quite informative - any thoughts / suggestions?

lol - I know - being concise is not one of my strong points :rotfl: .
Thats why I didnt post the whole review on here!
As for photos - again, I am not concise there either - we literally took hundreds and I still havent got round to downloading them from my camera yet - Im not sure whether to post a few or not - if it would be of interest then I will try at the weekend. I could include some of the hotel and maybe grand canyon.

Sorry if this has already been asked?

Would you take kids? Mine will be 11 and 9 when we plan to visit at Easter in a few years, trip for my 40th.

Can you recomend a tour operator or a hotel?

Have a look through the thread in regards to hotels, there are SO many and each have a different appeal.

Also, maybe not a great idea with kids if you want to gamble and see casinos as they are VERY strict and they won't be allowed to watch you gamble. If you are off-strip there's quite a lot for kids to do....

Probably best to stay off-strip, or Circus Circus and Excalibur welcome children. Probably the only strip hotels that do. Neither are particularly luxurious though. There's a lot of info in this thread, it's well worth the time t takes to read through it....

Sorry to post this as a reply; but I've been going round in circles trying to find out how to post a new thread. But have managed to find previous posts that answered quite a few of my other questions. :j

Can anyone help me out with these ones:
Booked a flight with a stopover in Newark outbound, and Houston return. With regard to duty free, I know that I shouldn't buy any liquids at Gatwick, but would it be a better idea to get duty free at Newark? We have a 2 hour stopover there which (hopefully) should be long enough. But I'm not sure if we will be "allowed" into the duty free  if we aren't still classed as inter-continential (or whatever the term is) travellers.
Same principle coming back. 3 hour stopover at Houston. I'm assuming that there's a duty free shop at Houston? Has anyone stopped over there?
I can't believe the luggage allowance with Continential Air :j But again another question here. As we are breaking the journey both ways: I'm just concerned that we'll get hit for extra charges (i.e $50 for extra cases etc). Again

Coupons: I'll take a chance and try to get the American Casino Guide in LV, but can anyone let me know where are the best places to find coupons. I love Coupons ;)

Just like to add that finding this forum was a total joy for me. We had booked to go to LV last year but unfortunately, 3 weeks before we were due to go I had quite a serious accident and we had to cancel the whole trip - thank goodness for travel insurance! Doing my research here before rebooking has saved us over £1000 - all that extra dosh in our pockets. Thank you all :A

Just thought of another thing I really want to buy an ipod, is it better to wait and get one in the US? I can't find a US based site sellling them so can't compare prices.
Sorry this has turned into a bit of essay.....

Try https://www.bestbuy.com or https://www.amazon.com - the latter will be online prices so may be a bit less than in a shop...those should at least give you a comparison on prices. I've not priced ipods specifically as we prefer competitor's products to ipods ourselves, but from those we have purchased we've found that the prices in the US are much, much better and usually you can get a newer model in the US. There are potential warranty issues though -sometimes you will have problems registering a warranty in the UK if you buy an item in the US, not sure on ipods specifically.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
