Well, this will be my last post for a couple of weeks. Off to the airport at 6am so will try and do a trip report on our return.

    Bye for now.

Steff, thanks for reply about the Meridian. I've got to say, it is still right at the top of my favourites, but we are considering others. we now think maybe 3 separate rooms may be better, but are really undecided. In actual fact, your post puts me in another dilema. Whilst the Mridian sounds idyllic, I'm not sure I now want to stay somewhere that makes me feel I'm not in Vegas. does that sound bad? I've dreamed so long about going, I think I want all the glitz and razamatazz. Rest of the family are leaning on me heavily to go for the Bellagio, but something is holding me back. Not sure what. Its not the price, because the Wynn is more expensive and Venetian even more, but ther's something. Sounds like you had a whale of a time, glad you got to see the canyon, its definately on my agenda

Hello. I've just had to cancel my reservation at the Meridian for this August because it has allegedly had to close after operating with an incorrect licence. I found out after looking for reviews on tripadvisor. I had booked through Expedia and they phoned the Meridian to confirm that they were closed before giving me a refund. The Meridian are also no longer taking bookings on their web site. Disappointing, but it should make your decision a bit easier!

    Hi Stef,

Insurance was via moneysupermarket.com as directed by this site :)

Oh yes, i also got insurance for the trip from via this site for £18.21 for 2 adults. I normally use Insureandgo as i found them to be a good deal, but even they came in at £52.

    Got to love MSE :)

Procyon is just off Valley View behind the Rio.

We walked from Flamingo the first time we picked one up. It's not too far, but it was in November. Probably will feel further in July/August heat.

    Hope that helps

    Wow

Just put in dep.7th sept ret. 18th sept £355.50 each, that seems a mega bargain, anyone know a good hotel in LA? We love flying with BMI as well, except just noticed flying air new zealand outward and United return

    we stayed here
    http://www.hollywoodhillshotel.com/

good location and reasonable price for a safe (ish) neighbourhood of LA but still expensive compared to Las Vegas . we stayed in the Hollywood Hills Hotel which are basically apartments on the hillside , i wish i had choosen the Magic Castle to be honest though. Chinese theatre is walking distance . good LA hotels tend to be expensive , but you should choose a cheap motel with care. Hollywood can get very seedy away from the touristy bit.

all said and done we had a great view from our balcony

    November/December
Folks been looking for flights all day and havnt found any great bargins so far.

Im planning a trip someime before christmas and baiscally i can go anytime in september, october, november and early december but i have to book flights in the next 3 days.

Are there any good sites for finding cheap flights over a long period like that? The most i can find is making the dates flexible by 3/7 days. I dont care when I fly but would rather fly direct as I will have to fly from Northern Ireland to england first anyay and dont want 3 flights there and 3 back.

    thanks!

That's for December, gives you averages by day and you can click on January or February to see how they compare.

We've been late December and early January a couple of times. Some days were absolutely freezing cold with really strong winds - some days we wore winter coats, gloves, hats, the works. Other days we wore jeans and long-sleeve t-shirts...I think my husband wore short sleeved t-shirts once or twice but it was too cold for even him to do so most days.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
