Mayi know there's obviously a few different planes on these journeys, but I've never been in version 1 on the vegas route...
last two times outbound from Gatwick i've had version 3:

return to gatwick... can't remember (possibly 3 again but once it had vport and i didn't wander around really)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

November/DecemberThe version with Prem. in the bubble is the Gatwick fleet. You might get lucky and get one of the LHR planes, but that would only happen if the rust buckets from Gatwick break down
The LGW ones have Prem in bubble and downstairs and the seats in downstairs are as uncomftable aas economy !Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

You guys are absolutely correct - I linked the wrong version and do apologise.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

yep like stoneman says , the alert program cannot do your homework for you, it just lets you know when a sale or special offer starts . The American Airlines software however does track prices for dates ect ,so it can be done , Virgin just don't want to do it.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
November/DecemberThese are the basic details for all you money saving Vegas fans. Sorry it’s so late, but I’ve been busy with other things.
This was a slightly unexpected trip. We weren’t planning on going until November and had already booked airfare for that one. Some friends of ours were going to be in Vegas for the first week in June, and after talking for a while, my SO and I convinced each other we should go too.
We flew with US Airways from Manchester, changing in Philadelphia. This was about the cheapest we could find at short notice, but was still way more than we usually pay. We have done this route before and thought it was fine. It is easy to navigate the airport and not huge lines at the immigration the other times we have been, pretty short this time too. Landed in Vegas early, which was nice.
We stayed in Vegas for 20 nights and had a car for 15 of them. This was because we did quite a bit of hotel hopping, more than we usually do, and it is useful to have the car to help with the moving around. We stayed at Bally’s (3), South Point (3), MGM Grand (3), LV Hilton (6) and Monte Carlo (5), all on offers from here, Fatwallet, or personal email. We don’t gamble much, so don’t get free rooms or anything like that. This was the best way to keep the price as low as possible. With hindsight it was too many moves, but I would do it again if necessary. I am a cheapskate after all, and it’s good to see different places.
The only show we had booked was Cher and we really enjoyed it. We were in the nosebleed section, but I don’t think there was a bad seat in the place. Of course we couldn’t see her face, but then neither could most of the others. The ones close enough for that wouldn’t have been able to see the other parts of the show as well as us. It cost $212 for two including all the taxes and fees that they add on. We were planning on more, but then Tony got sick and that was the end of that!
We did a bit of sightseeing while we had the car. We did Laughlin, Primm, Red Rock national park and Valley Of Fire.
We shopped at Las Vegas premium outlets, Town Square, Wal-Mart, the south strip outlet that used to be Belz and a few other places.
We attended a few meets with people from other Vegas boards while we were there, as well as visiting with our friends from England.
The first meet was a small one with just me, Tony, Jwilliam and Rhonda from Open Vegas. We met at Margaritaville, which was a first for us. We have walked through the place but never stopped for a drink or food.
The second meet was at Orleans Mardi Gras bar with different people from the same message board. There were several people there that we had met previously and several new faces.
We met some friends from Vegas, New Hampshire and Canada for dinner at Red Rock Station. Had a really nice evening there. If you haven’t been to that particular casino I would recommend a visit. It is a really classy place, similar to but better than, Green Valley Ranch. Tony contracted salmonella from the “killer Mexican tomatoes” in his salad and spent several days in bed after that though, I can’t blame the restaurant because it apparently was something to do with a contaminated water supply to the crops. No amount of washing would have helped. It spoiled the holiday, but we did have plenty of days left when he began to feel better, so it wasn’t a total loss. I can say that though, because it wasn’t me suffering.
I had a couple of meets with people from another message board while Tony was laid up. It was the guys and gals from WhatBrianThinksAboutLasVegas.com. Check it out, it's a good board. Let me know if you want to sign up and I'll recommend you. I have met several of them before and it was nice to meet up with them all again. I entered a poker tournament with them, my first ever, and didn’t come last!!! Must have been a fluke.
I also met some of them for a couple of meals while Tony wasn’t eating anything. Better than dining alone. The two places we met were the Peppermill for breakfast one morning and Triple7 brewpub at Main Street Station downtown for microbrews and food. I was invited to join some of them for a poker game again, but declined because I felt guilty leaving Tony for too long. They looked after me well whilst he was laid up and have been very helpful since we got back finding out if it was worth taking our problem further.
Other places we ate were buffets at Harrah’s, MGM, South Point, Orleans, Gold Coast, Main Street Station, and Terrible’s, coffee shops at Monte Carlo, and The Orleans, and several visits Ellis Island for the restaurant and the barbeque.
As you can see, nothing fancy, but apart from the Gold Coast buffet that in my opinion has gone down the drain, I would visit all of them again. I REALLY enjoyed the Ellis Island barbeque and have it on the top of my TO DO list for November.
We had $10 free play at a couple of places included in the room offers and coupons from the ACG and POV for $10 each at Four Queens and El Cortez. Our free play totalled $60 and we came away with $160 from that free play. It got fed back in to the machines at various places, but Tony likes to keep a tally of anything we win or lose when using free play.
I played video poker and penny slots. My favourite is still Texas Tea because it was the first machine I ever played, but I do like some of the newer ones. My current favourites are Village People Party, Wizard of Oz, and Hexbreaker.
Costs for the trip
Flights - $1,733.72 total - $866.86 each - $86.69 pppd
Hotels - $1,652.14 total - $82.61 per day - $41.31 pppd
I haven’t taken off the free food and beverage credit we got at each hotel, most of them we had $25 to $35 per visit. Most expensive night was $90 + tax over memorial weekend, cheapest was $50 + tax at Bally’s.
Totals $3,385.86 total - $1,692.93 each - $84.65 pppd
The rate during our trip was around $1.975 / £1 so to make it easy I’ve just used 2 to 1 to convert to £
Total £1,692.93 - £846.47 - £42.32 pppd
The car was about £16 per day total including all taxes and fees. Adding this in brings our daily total to £50.32 pppd, which I didn’t think was too bad. We’ve spent more than that on a trip to Spain. (But not recently)
If you have any questions please ask. I hope you all didn’t find it too boring.0 -

Pebbles thanks for the report.
What did you think of southpoint? I am tempted to try it but the location puts me off (even with a car).
Good to see someone else try Terribles. I always go for a buffet or two there as it is SOOOO cheap,I always have a few bogof coupons for there. They send me an email most weeks with room rates from $29 (havent stayed there tho).
Your cost breakdown is great, I said earlier I like to get my average to around £50 or $100 per night for the hotel, you did better than that and stayed in some decent hotels..Well done!
I am a cheapskate to!
Going to have to try the Ellis Island bbq next year, I have been there a couple of times but always had the Steak special.0
