OctoberI know none of you like Virgin but as you know I plan to use them next year when we return to Vegas purely because I have Miles+money to use,we want a direct flight and it's easier to get to Gatwick than it is to go to Manchester from where we live
Anyway I'm not going to go into who would be cheaper better to fly with I just want to know when would be the best time for us to purchase our flights.
Last year we went end Oct and I bought my flights in March just nearly missing a cheaper price by a few hours because I couldn't get online to purchase them.Anyway I ended up paying £467 for my return Gatwick to Vegas flights.
I notice that at the moment Virgin are only offering flights up to mid June at £662 which by reconing should make my intended flights come up at around end Aug(we want to go end Sept)
Should I get in straight away or wait for say Jan sale and take a risk that they will drop in price.
What do you think would be a cheap price to pay for a flight end Sept 2009 and returning 10 days later at beg of Oct:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -
They are actually going to re-configure the planes to allow for the extra legroom/pitch in 4 rows
They could go the whole hog and put premium seats into those rows...theres plenty of room widthways there.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
you still should receive a booking ref. code (about 5 letters and a couple of numbers) use this on the "manage my bookings" page of the VS site
Thanks mate, any tips of where I should choose? there are 4 of us going!0 -

More to avoid the bad as there aren't many 'good' seats in economy...

I would ring them then and ask if you can check on your seat assignment (have seatguru up on your PC so you can check what they are offering you). They can always be changed before your flight, but at least you can try.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

they should start a sale between now and Xmas and before Xmas seems a good time , but i would look at prices regualr from 11 months out. they will undoubtedly have sale starting beginning of January as well
you can be alerted when the sale starts by downloading the alert program to you computer from the virgin Atlantic site.
there is no guarantee of course that you will make savings , but your giving yourself every chance.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
November/Decemberi could not agree more . clever plan by Virgin isn't it !!!
make out like they are offering more leg room and better seats for less than Premium economy and boast about improving passenger comfort , while all they are really doing is cashing in on the few good seats that plane has in cattle class , which were available for free before to people with the forsight to book them up early.it's a win win devised by some suit in a faceless office somewhere
and they have the nerve to charge £560 for that , i'm only sad that this thread cannot give a heads up to all who are planning a flight on that sardine tin.we have nearly 200,000 hits on this thread ,but i bet Virgin still fill that flight most days
nothing is going to change until a airline takes them on on this route , or they buy some new planes . neither seem on the horizon IMO .
Well said Trets- the thing that annoys me the most about that change is Virgin having the cheek to say they are doing it for the benefit of passengers. Erm no you are are doing it to make more money from an already substandard product. There is a great gap in the market there for a company to take on virgin by offering direct flights to vegas from london- i know who i would chose because TBH i don't think you get much worse than vegas. On the plus side i'm glad to hear good reports about virgin on other routes. We're planing on going in dec and june next year, so a flight to LA will be on the cards for at least one of them.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
November/DecemberI can't see how those could be the seats in question as they don't have more leg room than the other economy seats?
In any event, we had 2 pairs at the back booked on our flight out in October - 2 for me and my husband, 2 in front of us for my in-laws...we were so excited.
But they moved us a few weeks ago to a row of 4. We assumed this was because their computer couldn't process the idea of 4 passengers travelling together sat in 2 rows but perhaps not reading this.
.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother in law, i hope she gets better soon. Re the seats I am assuming they are removing certain rows to create the extra leg room. I had read posts last week on an orlando forum that people in the affected seats had their seats reallocated without any notification, which seems to be what happened to you here.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0
