My flight lands in LAX at somthing like 1426 and my flight to LAS leaves at 1546, I should be one of the first off of the plane as we are in Prem and I have tarnsferred in LAX with less than this before, the difference is that as I have booked all through United if I miss the flilght they will put me on another this may not be the case if you book on your own. Unless you flight is badly delayed that shoudl easily be enough time

I'm sure its not the case, our last trip had just over an hour to connect in Chicago all with the same airline, its amazing how quick things can move when they have to.

I'm pretty much decided to do this I think,

    Arrive LAX 13:10
    Depart LAX 16:50pm

    then for the return

    Depart LAS 11:50am
    Arrive LAX 1:05pm
    Depart LAX 3:50pm

The bold flights are already booked.

    Does this seem feasible?

On a side note, I really want to stay in one of the south rim grand canyon lodges for 2 nights starting 11 October but they are all booked. Anyone have any ideas as to whats the best way to secure a reservation etc? Obviously I will ring them but just wondering if anyone has managed it at short notice etc.

Check back regularly - as with most hotels in the US, the cancellation policy is very generous so quite possible that people will cancel along the way. We originally booked (for October 22nd) the only rooms we could get at Thunderbird (non-canyon view) and a few weeks later lo and behold, canyon view rooms popped up so we cancelled and rebooked.

Their website takes ages to load and it's a lot of faffing around to check but you may be surprised what you find...I think you'll want to be quick though - if you do find one book it before it's gone.

Also, beware of double beds in the US - not like double beds here, really only suitable for one person. Some of the lodges have rooms with 1 double bed.

And since your dates are a Saturday and Sunday night, you might have more difficulty than other nights of the week - but keep checking. Right now Yavapai Lodge has availability the 2nd night...may be worth booking and keep an eye out for the 1st night? Maybe?

Easily doable mate coming home is a breeze no customs and no immigration to worry about.

Keep checking back at the lodges last year we were unwell in Vegas and cancelled our lodge the morning we were meant to go and they even refunded the money os if they are booked now just keep trying. I cant remeber the name of the village just befor eyou eneter the park but the hotels there are a rip off more expensive than the park !!

I mange to book the Sunday night and then found a Monday available, at a different lodge but thats fine, so I booked that, the Maswik or whatever it is. At least we have the 2 nights we wanted. I'll keep an eye open to see if there are better rooms available to be able to swap.

I cant seem to find a map or whatever to see where these lodges are though.

    Thanks

    Long Shot Here

Anyone going out to Las Vegas on July 22nd From Manchester on BMI

If anyone is we can guest 2 people into the BMI Lounge before the flight (Free Drinks and sncks plus a nice place to wait away from the crowds)

If its any use to anyone let me know and I will arrange with you.
Very nice offer Vicky. maybe we should do this as a regular, I know they do it over on Vflyer, I am looking for someone to get me into the Clubhouse in September:rolleyes: We can guest 4 into Admirals lounge at LHR on the 1st. of January, we will be there about 6:30am. PM me if anyone is interested.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Here's one:

Maswick is toward the left hand side...Yavapai is more toward the centre near that Market Plaza.

doable sure , but i would still have recommended a single ticket/ref booking , but never mind.

we queued for a hour at LAX immigration , and the officer who did our entry admitted there was often a 2 hour wait at busy times , so leave a bit of time for the outward connection .

it seems you are sorted but thought i'd mention that the Xanterra online booking system is a bit naff, and they seem to have more availability if you phone up...

when i last tried, every single night was booked up @ Bright Angel for about 3 months, but phoned and they had some rooms with rim-view available for exactly the night we wanted...

Maswick is cool I have stayed there and its good, I have also stayed at Bright Angel bright Angel is nearer the edge but you dont get a view. Its pretty dark at night so take a torch its pretty good fun walking back at night if you have a drink at one of the other lodges.

I know some people have made up their mind about Virgin (Trets :D), but nice to see they appear to be making some changes:
    STRETCH YOUR LEGS IN ECONOMY
As of the 25 June, passengers flying in Economy now have the option of purchasing an Extra Legroom Seat on all 747 flights from Gatwick and Manchester. These spacious seats will be fitted on each aircraft, offering those passengers who prefer a little more room, the choice to spread their legs at a little extra cost.

The seats will be sold on a first come first serve basis at the check in desk on the day of departure so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

ok, not brilliant news and there's still plenty to complain about but it's something i guess :)

(assuming it's a 747 that goes to Vegas :D i'm not very into the old plane types i'm afraid... think it is though :D )
