Pebbles - thanks for the report! I always love reading what you get up to in your trips as they are so much longer than ours - I live vicariously through you a bit there. So sorry about Tony - but glad to hear that he had some good days after the killer tomatoes hit.

Also thanks for the comment on Gold Coast's buffet. We've only been one (with Tom and Norm) and thought it was great...sorry to hear that it's gone downhill but glad to know as it was one on the list of potential breakfasts with the in-laws in October, so will probably give it a miss.

And EI BBQ - how did we miss that for so long? We only found it on accident when we went to try the steak special and the restaurant was operating a limited menu as they were cleaning the kitchen and the steak special was not available - so we went to the BBQ instead. Fantastic food and so cheap!

You also get three lots of freebies!!!!

I've always worried booking a deal with attached freebies that booking back-to-back reservations over the period would be flag to them that I was trying to get more than I was entitled to and might result in something terrible happening. :) I suppose it might work if you didn't link the reservations but that would mean checking out and back in.

Has anyone tried the multiple bookings where there are freebies associated with each who can say how it worked?

What did you think of southpoint? I am tempted to try it but the location puts me off (even with a car).

We love the Southpoint, Its a bit out the way, thats the main reason we like it you are not battling the traffic on the strip each time you want to get in and out of the hotel, it has easy access to all the main routes and is a LOT cheaper than the 4*s on the Strip.

We are staying there again on the 3rd and 4th Aug just before our return to the UK (Going over to ComicCon in San Diego). Booked it through Hotels.com a few weeks ago at £90.14 for 2 Rooms for 2 Nights (And 8% Quidco as well) - So £19 a night including Taxes and fees a room after the Quidco.

If its a one off trip you may want to be in the middle of the strip for the action and atmosphere (When you have done it few times, this is our 154th Trip in the last 10 years! "Work and Pleasure".) Its worth being that little bit away from the strip for ease of access and travel.

I merged one night and 3 nights at MGM last year and also 3 nights and 1 night at Luxor (Both as I booked hotel before flights were booked) in both instances I only got one lot of freebies and I asked the clerk and they said the freebies are per stay not per night or per booking, if you book multiple rooms you get more but it you book multiple nights you dont.

  • i bet. call them up and play hard ball /sob story ..worst they can do is what they have already done . mention large group , 1st time visit , special occasion ect , and pile on the politeness and UK accent ....they love both .

this really is the first time this has happened on any offer posted here or the other sites in my memory.

don't be disheartened something will come along that will be a massive saving on a travel agent deal.

    My pricing saga: continued...

I wrote a sob story email and followed it up with a phone call. The lady was nice but not particularly apologetic, said that the voucher was from a site called slickdeals.net. I asked her what she could do for me and she did Fri/Sat night at $104 and the rest of the week for about $79-89. It was a total of $679 for the week inc tax, obviously up from $530 but still a good deal I thought.

What do you think? Will I be able to get cheaper than this for a hotel in the same class? I booked it anyway but I'll keep checking.

I'm not sure whether to write to their customer services director and ask for food comps or something. Worth persuing or should I just let the matter settle?

I'm looking to book 6 nights for October, I think I'd book those rates in a heart beat if I was offered them to be honest and I'd be very happy with it.

We really liked it. We stayed there Memorial weekend when Vegas was VERY busy. It was good to not have hordes of people milling about. There are some nice dining options within the complex, and as another poster said it is easy to get in and out of to travel anywhere else.

Good to see someone else try Terrible's. I always go for a buffet or two there as it is SOOOO cheap, I always have a few bogof coupons for there. They send me an email most weeks with room rates from $29 (havent stayed there tho).

The breakfast there are for nothing aren't they? $5.50 for two with a coupon. Even if I don't have much to eat it's still worth it. The omlette station is good and if I just have that and coffee and orange juice I feel well satisfied. We have stayed there three times altogether, not recently though. My parents like it there because its small and easy to navigate. They tend to get lost in some of the larger casinos.

Your cost breakdown is great, I said earlier I like to get my average to around £50 or $100 per night for the hotel, you did better than that and stayed in some decent hotels..Well done!

    :cheesy: Thanks :o

Going to have to try the Ellis Island bbq next year, I have been there a couple of times but always had the Steak special.

The barbeque is really good. Ferf mentioned it to me some time ago, but this was the first time we tried it. It definitely won't be the last! We also had the prime rib in the restaurant this time and really enjoyed it.
