I was discussing our up-coming trip to the Bellagio with my DH and told him that he has to do the $20 tip to upgrade our room, and he said how do we know what room we are going to get, so we might not need to waste $20! (his words not mine! )
I should point out that Mr Pinkpinkfizz is a bit of a fraidy cat, he likes things nice and straight forward and no risk of embarassment, lol. However by the same token should he actually do the $20 trick and get a beauty of a room he would of course think he was the dogs B******s!!! He keeps me entertained anyway! lol.:kisses2:
So back to the question, How do we know how decent a room we WOULD be having? Our booking form says Standard Deluxe with priavte facilites.
Also about the Top of the World restuarant in Stratosphere, we were thinking about going there for a meal, anyone recommend? Is it worth upwards of $150?
advice welcome,pinkpinkfizz

MarchMystere tickets at 35% off - dates through 11.03.08. That's cheaper than you can get them at the 1/2 price booths normally.

advice welcome,
On the $20 trick - check www.frontdesktip.com for your hotel and see what people had booked, and were upgraded to. That will give you an idea of what has happened when others have tried. Most hotel websites will give descriptions of the different types of rooms so read about the room you have booked and the next few up in price to know what they offer. Sometimes it's suggested that you go into it knowing what you want to be upgraded to - so you acutally ask 'do you have any complimentary upgrades to a blahblahblah room?'
I think that in general if the clerk cannot give you a reasonable upgrade they will give the $20 back. We tried it for the first time last trip and we did get an upgrade (to a diamond room at Bally's). The only real difference from the room we booked was on a much higher floor and a coffee maker in the room. Worth $20? Possibly not, but she was really nice and grateful and we felt at least we had finally tried it.
As for Top of the World, I'm in the minority - I thought the food was really overpriced and not very good at all. We paid over $200 for the pair of us on starter, main and dessert. Think we had 2 drinks each. If you are going for the view and the experience and manage expectations about the food then it IS a nice experience. We'd never do it again ourselves and would not recommend it as such. I've read others feel the same, but overall people do seem to like the place. Maybe we were there on an off night. We've had much better meals at 1/2 the price and while the view is stunning, you can get the view for the price of a tower ticket.
Edited to add - to get an idea of prices you can see the menu on their website...this is the mains menu:

MarchDoes anybody know of any hotels where 3 guys can stay in the same room in 3 separate beds? I've heard that MGM are able to supply a roll out bed
Most hotels have roll-aways but they are not going to guarantee you will get one...like most things in hotels in Vegas it will be a request and they will accomodate it if they can. In most cases when you go to the hotel's website to book it will ask if you have any requests (non-smoking, etc.) and you should put the request there for your best chance I think.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Now I'm the last person to 'stir it up' but I cannot wait to tell your partner you said that -- what seats are you in on the plane!!!!:rotfl:Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Hello Vegas Experts
We have just booked to go from 10th Nov - 20th Nov (10 Nights)
Quite fancy staying in a couple of places, maybe one cheaper than the other, also may fancy going off for the weekend, maybe hire a car drive to see the grand canyon, if anyone can comment on that!
Hi Matt,
We drive to the Grand Canyon when we were in Vegas for New Year - it is a LONG way! Well worth it IMO, and it's a great way to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of Vegas for a while.
I would recommend staying over at the Grand Canyon for a night though - trying to get there and back in a day would be too much I think (although I am sure people do it).please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

LLOL, I forgot about you!!! :shhh:
I couldnt tell you where we will be sitting as we never pre-booked seats at time of booking so now must wait paitiently until twilight check in to see what delightful seat we end up with, unless someone knows how to do it before then?
I think we'll give the stratophere restaurants a miss, and just go to the tower for views, although heights are not at all my favourite thing so I may be pushing my reality boundary way too far! _pale_ :rotfl:
I'm getting on quite well with information gathering, trouble is the more info I have the more certain I am that we simply won't have enough time to do half the things we want to do! which already means I am thinking I will need to go again! lol.pinkpinkfizz

Go to www.virginatlantic.com
Click on Update Booking
Put in your booking reference and name.
Retrieve Booking
Make changes to your booking
View or change your seating plan.
There you go.
Go to www.seatguru.com first so you can see what seats they think are particularly good or particularly bad...and avoid the bad ones.
As for not having enough time to do all that you will do? We're making our 9th trip in March and there are things that were on the list for the first trip we still have not done. You'll never make it all the way through any list you come up with...it's just the nature of the beast.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I was just having a look on the fatwallet site & was looking at 1 of the new deals posted.
Hilton Las Vegas, hot dates promo, runs until 28th Dec.
I typed in my dates (July 16-23) & I don't see anything at all. I can't find anything for dates after April. Am I doing something wrong?
Initially we were going to dtay the weekend at the Hilton at a cost of £151, which I thought was ok but was told on here last night it was expensive. So now looking for the specials but now I think I'm too early for the offers.0
