thanks for that - although 150 pounds for a helicopter ride seems steep - im not sure how much it will be worth it.

Still researching flights for next year....my problem is my OH doesn't want to drive up to Manchester/Gatwick airport so we are having to either drive to Bristol and get the Continental flight with a stopover or get the train to Gatwick/Manchester the day before and stay over so that we'll be on time for the flight.
I know there is a place at Gatwick you can stay which has a direct walkway bridge to the airport but I dont know the name of it....anyone help??
OH is adamant he wants a direct flight to Vegas.

It is a long and after the hoover Dam not too interesting drive, but if you did hire a car I would stop over in Flagstaff and do a trip down to Sedona returning via a cheap night at Laughlin.Hire cars are cheap in the US and fuel is still less than half the UK price.

Second that, I would rather drive than fly and Sedona is def worth seeing

There are two hotels attached to Gatwick by walkway. The Sofitel is attached to the North terminal, and The Hilton on the south.
It may be more convenient to book the one that is attached to the terminal you are flying from, although you can travel between the two terminals by monorail.
IMHO I have stayed in both and I much prefer the Sofitel, but it does tend to be more expensive than the Hilton.

If you choose to fly from Manchester, there is a Radisson SAS inside the airport that is very nice.

Re Grand Canyon Tour, we used Scenic Airlines for our tour, fixed wing flight from Vegas and comprehensive coach tour of the canyon with two stops for sightseeing and photographs and a buffet lunch. We thought it was worth every penny, from memory it cost £150.00 each. This should be the link. http://www.scenic.com/saws1gc_deluxe.htm

    TangoBunny,

Don't forget that if you go direct from Gatwick you can twilight check in the night before and dump your bags on Virgin if that makes your choice any easier.

That was the plan Stew to get rid of the bags at Gatwick then get the shuttle to the B+B with just an overnight bag

Where in South Wales are you BTW....I'm near Swansea
