I take cash, I take alot of cash and use the in room safe i object to paying somone to let me get my money. The ATMs in Vegas are a rip off and the exchange rate terrible

You can get a great exchange rate with the right card (generally a lot better than the exchange rates you can get for exchanging here in the UK) and there are low-fee ATMs available...

We do take about 1/2 our money in cash though - withdraw the rest (if we need it, which we normally do). :) That way we usually don't end up with a lot of USD to change back when we get home too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Still not allowed to fly, or 'advised not to fly' But planning for April 2009.
LOn. Lax then drive up to Vegas. Have one or two nights in the LA area, if there is plenty to see??
So suggestions please for the LA area and places to stay, never been there so it will be all new.
In Vegas, hopefully strip hotel Mon to Thursday then off strip for the W/e then off to Florida!
Just in the planning stage at the moment, pricing up and dates etc. 21 April to May 18. Seem about right.

I dont understand the logic. What cash do you take, stirling or dollars ? You have to change and pay somewhere. Whereas if you take a nationwide debit card you are getting the full exchange rate and there are ATM,s (well 1) that only charges $1 fee.

I have just booked Nor-La with KLM/NWA for Mar/april next year £370, Lon-LA was available for £298, both on airline network and KLM direct.

We are having a couple of days at the beginning and a couple at the end in LA, we will stay in pasadena and prob anaheim. Best western pasadena is $90 a night parking outside your door great restaurants around, close to santa anita racetrack and easy access up to sixflags. Old town Pasadena is a pleasant place to wander around (shopping)

Then in Anahiem, prob end up at knotts berry farm for a day and go to the coast for the other day.

Quick replies folks, seems I'm not the only one who thinks sat night TV is rubbish. I've thought about the price, & I know it will be expensive, but our family configuration is odd. There will be me & OH, Son & wife and adult single daughter. We would need 3 separate rooms. I've seen the offer at Signature & for next May, its $179. This seems quite good for 5 people. Also, it looks really sumptuous, I can Soooooo imagine me in there.

Have you seen an offer for next may? the links I followed didnt go past the end of 2008. It is unusual for offers to be available more than 6 months out.

I flew with them a couple of years ago from Edinburgh to Atlanta, then on to vegas. they seemed good enough flights with friendly staff from what i remember, not seatback entertainment, but they had a few films on. A busy flight to Atlanta, but a half empty plane to vegas, so we could move aboute.

This was Nov 06 and would use them again. My preference is united from LAX, but this year, were are only doing one stop this year and thats Vegas so got a good deal on Virgin, although reading this.... :rotfl:

But I digress, Yes - I would recommened Delta if times & price suit you.

    Cheers

Great, that's a relief. Were there any suprises? Forexample having to pay for any baggage that goes on the flight or baggage being lost or having to pay for anything you don't usually pay for with other flights?

I dont think it was an offer, the basic rates for next year are showing some dates at $179 in May, some at $159 in April, but says these are for single or double occupancy

There are going to be changes that will affect everyone flying with the baggage charges now the domestic US airlines are starting to charge for checked luggage-so far it doesn't appear to be affecting those routing internationally (ie LON NYC LAS you won't be charged on NYC LAS if it's a connection-at least not on AA). I can see this getting extended if the airlines think they can get away with it.

Photome- yes this is the basic rate, I just googled "2 bedroom suites" and the link came up. I've signed up for the email ( i think it also includes other hotels in same area) so when any offers come up they'll let me know.
Can i just ask anyone who's been. I have a N'wide debit & CC & normally dont get charged abroad. Do I understand correctly that this doesn't apply in Vegas. Do I have to pay a fee at all the ATM's?
Also, what is this $15 day resort fee?

The $15 fee is an MGM requirement which provides guests with 2 bottles of water per day, access to the Signature fitness center, wireless internet access, free local and (800) calls, in-suite private label coffee and a daily newspaper.

Also to note, the Signature is totally non-smoking, if there are any smokers in your group
