I play a lot of poker.. This is primarily a poker holiday.
Going for 17 days total, staying at Imperial Palace.
I meant insurance as in if I took a large amount of travellers cheques which got stolen etc.. are they covered?
Hmm still not sure how much to take... darn[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

MayYou would need to check your travel insurance to see how much cash, as in currency, you are covered for.
However TC's are covered for loss or theft anyway without any insurance. There will be details of where to call and how to claim with the cheques and they can be replaced within, I think it is 48 hours.
Just make sure you keep a note of the numbers and the emergency number to call separate from the TC's and religiously mark them off as you spend them. You get a tiny record with the TC's, but there's only room for 5-10. I type up the list of TC numbers and denominations and print it off.0 -
Ok so with £3000 I'll prob end up taking £2000 and leaving £1000 back to pay off whatever I spend in the post office credit card lol[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

MayYes the Halifax is one of the worst for withdrawing cash. It will cost you £29 for withdrawing £500  See HERE You would probably be cheaper getting travellers cheques before you go from www.crowncurrencyexchange.co.uk The rate may be lower than with a Nationwide card, but you will avoid the transaction fees.
I was using my Halifax debit card last week to withdraw $500 a day in Vegas and the rate I was charged on my bank statement is 1.921 plus a £1.50 fee from Halifax, which is not excessive0 -
MayThe Interbank rate was $1.96 which is around £5 + £1.50 per transaction less than you would have received using the Nationwide card so not as bad as that article makes out.0

Marchthat reminds me.
For those searching for low-fee ATMs, Ellis Island's fee was $1.50...not as convenient as a few on the strip that have been mentioned, but if you happen to be there for the BBQ (awesome again) or steak special it's handy.I think it had a max of $500 per transaction though.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

CCE rate is 1.97 for mid-August delivery with free delivery. Thats a few hundred dollars extra (diff in exch rate plus all the $1.50s for each $500) by my rough estimate.....you can order online as well.
I used them last year.....couldnt fault them. The only query I had was were the notes genuine......they were brand new crisp notes, and the new dollar bill design has shades of apricot and shades of blue built into the green bills to stop forgery......quick visit to wikipedia confirmed they were fine.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Oh yeah, you can choose a mixture of bills and travellers cheques, which I did. Everywhere takes TCs over there....occasionally you need to show your passport when cashing them.illegitimi non carborundum0
