Have found £432 with Delta 1 stop leaving 2nd September returning 22nd - does this sound like its worth booking? Am planning on doing Vegas, San Fran and then spending a week or so with family in the SF area.

I trailed around the internet for ages looking for cheapest flights to Vegas/San Fran in August and eventually went for NWA flights to Vegas (via Detroit) and back from San Fran (via Detroit) and worked out at about £440 per person and that was by far the cheapest I had managed to find.

So given the warnings of fuel surcharges and flights going up in price then I would say that sounds a good price you've got so take it.

George Michael concert was great last night at MGM, just off to Fashion Show Mall before it gets too hot out there
Just booked another weekend here at the Venetian for July, promotion depends on the temperature on the day you are staying. Provisionally booked at $105 per night but they go by the actual weather reading taken on the day, so it may go up a little.
    108f outside today
    Hi Penny,
Glad you enjoyed George's concert. When I found out he was playing MGM a few months ago I was hoping against hope that it would be whilst I was in Vegas (29th June) but - as you know - it was last night.

I am SO jealous - Ive always wanted to see him live and in the MGM auditorium too - how amazing!!!!! I searched other dates, but we miss them all - glad you enjoyed it!

i was looking at this offer - whats the max the temp can reach in vegas during july time? it doesn't get crazy like 150 degrees does it?

i booked at luxor but via expedia but found i can cancel for 35£ fee. might go for the venetian and get a much better room at a better hotel for similar price! thanks in advance
    Hi,
Just to put your mind at rest - last year me and my partner were in Vegas in July and it topped out at 112 degrees I think. Think it was some sort of record, so there is NO WAY it will reach 150. Trets has a temperature chart in page one of this thread that gives you more of an indication.

Definately cancel - £35 fee is nothing compared to the saving you will make and from what I read the difference in quality of accommodation.
    Good Luck!!

The upgrade at Orleans will work or at least can but be careful as there have been reports of desk clerks taking the $20 telling you that they have given you and upgrade hoping that you dont know what the rooms are like.

I have never stayed at Orleans but Ihave been there is there ar particular reason that you have chosen to stay here rather than on the Strip ?

    Hi sew, pebbles & photome,
Thanks for your comments RE $20 tip trick at check in for The Orleans.

Yes - I got the room for £220 for 9 nights - which is an amazing price.
Im not gonna try the tip for an upgrade there (as I know they only have standard rooms or suites) but I thought it may help me get a strip view (yes, I know its a distant view, but I would like it all the same) and one of the better rooms - maybe in the newer tower - definately near the elevators.
Photome - I know that you have stayed there quite a few times - do you usually get the room you request at check in?

Sew - I chose to stay at The Orleans for the first nine nights of our trip due to the unbelievable price so that we can spend the last 5 nights at the Wynn. Our total accomodation spend for 14 nights is £720 with our direct BMI flights from Manchester purchased in their November sale coming in at £820 so - not a bad total for the two of us for two weeks!

I have read reports from people using the $20 tip at the Wynn (or maybe $40!) which has landed them one of the panoramic view rooms (same as standard but higher floor with 180 degree view) and even a tower suite room (again, same as standard room but in the private tower block with its own entrance etc) I wouldnt expect anything above this but one can hope!

I have to say I am getting hugely giddy now - this time next week I will be in the wonderful place that is Vegas :)

Cant wait to go to the Top of The World Restaurant on our first full night there!!! Anyone have any tips of menu choices - we are going at 7pm to see daylight view and sunset - there is a dress code but my other half doesnt have to wear a tie does he???

Ferf - welcome back - hope you had a great time - I agree three nights just wouldnt be enough - hope the post vegas blues arent hitting you too bad - do you have a return trip in the offing yet?!

    Steff;)

or try dial a flight , airline network or any of the airlines websites direct. it is aslo probably a good idea to buy the newspapers when the they have there travel suppliments in , you can often some good deals advertised in them.

    good luck ;)

I have only stayed at Orleans twice.

First time they kept my $20 and i didnt get an upgrade, they gave me a room overlooking the pool, quite high up which was fine, the second time I didnt ask for anything, and I got the 14th floor overlooking the strip which i was happy with. I would have complained if i wasnt happy, but didnt need to. If you want a high floor and a particular floor I would ask without the $20.

The biggest plus at check in is that both times we checked in at about 10am, only had to wait a few minutes and the room was ready both times.
