Julya good MSE question occured to me when i woke in night , after having a very nice dream about being in Vegas and winning on the slots .
If you were to lucky enough to win a sizable amount , (lets say $100,000 on a slot machine for example ) what would be the best way of maximizing your winnings in the change from $ to £ ?
i cannot believe taking hard cash home would be best (or safest) . yet i know i have been quoted by Lloyds TSB in the past a % figure rather than a flat fee for cashing a dollar cheque. would a electronic transfer of funds from USA to your bank account be best ??? and also which bank would give then best rate ??
i know how to get the most $ for my £ , but have never brought anything back to know how to do it the other way around.
have a great trip Ferf BTW
Unlike you it seems I am the eternal optimist and ALWAYS get that "buy back" option when I change my currency from £ to $. I know that you only get the same rate for the amount you changed so wouldnt totally help if you won BIG, BUT it helps.
Last year our friends came back with $45k (finished in money in main event) and they sat on it for a while till exchange rate improved a bit. I never asked them if it was cash or cheque etc!!!!

Just back - stayed at Palazzo. They seem to have ironed out any bugs which were reported earlier. All went very smoothly. Took my two kids age 8 and 10 and we had no problems. We enjoyed the pools (all 11 of them if you go over to Ventian too). Think would take them to MGM Grand if we went again tho - more for kids there I think. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

I'm not much of a pool person, and prefer to spend my time in the casino but I always assumed that the pools were pretty much a free-for-all and you could visit a pool at any hotel, regardless of if you were staying there or not????0 -

That would be nice but you have to stay there in order to use the pool areas. Not sure if the Harrahs properties have any agreements to visit another Harrahs pool but I think they don't.
What you can do: If you are staying at Bill's you are allowed to visit the Flamingo pool. Anyway, I've heard from some people that nobody take care if you are a hotel guest if you visit the Flamingo pool ...0 -
MayMost hotels ask for proof that you are staying there befor you can even enter the pool area. However, as suggested, we managed to access the Flamingo pool no problem.0

As a rule, no.
But if Bally's pool is closed which it is November to sometime in March you can use Paris' pool.
And if you stay at Bill's (which doesn't have a pool) you can use Flamingo's.
But otherwise you have to be a guest as others have said...they check room keys...some have said that they have kept an old room key to use to get into the pool at a later date...some have even bought room keys on ebay for this purpose...apparently it can work, though some hotels scan the room key so would know if it weren't legit...and also hotels change the design of the keys from time to time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
