Can anyone tell me whats involved when you get to immigration after landing. What exactly do they do?.
I've been advised by several friends you can sometimes just go straight throught with no hassle, other times it can take several hrs of waiting and questioning.
Never been to America or Las Vegas previously.

Both times I have been to Vegas it took no more than 2 minutes (for my wife and myself). They just look at your passport, stamp it. Then take a picture of you and a copy of one of your fingerprints so its all on compturer. Thats it really. Nothing to worry about!! :D

the actual process doesnt take long as previous poster said, they do ask a few questions but nothing to worry about, but he has been very lucky if there hasnt been a queue. If you are on a virgin flight and you are last off you will be ther a long time (about an hour)

    Thanks for that.
The reason for asking is in his youth he had a drink/driving offence about 33Yrs ago. Now we contacted police with one of those disclosure forms as we thought he would need to get a visa from the American Consulate for entry to the USA.. When it came back it stated no record was found. We gave them all the correct info to trace the offence, and they never stated there was'nt enough info.
Now worrying that on chking in at immigration they might have something on him which they might say he's not declared.
Logically if nothings been found in this country they would'nt have anything there.

I wouldnt worry about it, as you say there is no way the US authorities will have any thing on him and the only questions you get asked are, where r u staying, business or pleasure etc.

Also on the subject of immigration, does anyone have any experience of connecting flights in Canada? I'm new to connecting flights!

We are flying Heathrow-Vancouver-Vegas, and I have just had one of those calls with customer services where they don't really understand my question.
Basically I want to know what I'll need to do at Vancouver airport. Apparently I need to clear Canadian customs, collect my bags, put them on the connecting flight baggage belt, and pre-clear USA customs. Eh?

Does 1hr 45 minutes sound like enough time to do this? I hope so, because I booked online with Air Canada from the options presented to me when I requested a London - Vegas flight.

Also, does this involve going back out to the main part of the airport and standing in line as if I was departing normally from Vancouver, or is this all done somewhere else?

^^ I'd quite like to know this too, but with Chicago.
Im flying to Vegas from Manchester on Thursday and stopping of in Chicago for about 2 hours before getting a connecting flight to Vegas - is this enough to clear customs?
I suppose if it comes close to time i could mention to a member of staff that im close on time for connecting and hope they put me and my partner to the front of the queue.

I'd also be interested! I am taking the same flight into Vancouver as alibongo42 in August.

I assume that because you are transiting at ORD you are flying with AA. 2 hours is plenty of time. You will clear customs (no, they won't put you to the front, as most of the people on your flight will be connecting as well) then you wait for your bags. as soon as you have them you will see a door that says "AA connections" go through there and on the other side there will be some very nice men who will just check your tags and put your bags on a conveyor. You then need to go to the next terminal which only takes 2 minutes on the train. Now this is where you might get bogged down, you have to join the line for security, there are several of these, so don't join the one that is right in front of you as you come down the stairs, everyone gets in that one. The flight to LAS is only about a 3 minute walk after security
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Takes me and OH about 2 minutes to clear immigration as I have a U.S. passport and they let her go through with me. :j
I love the look on everyones faces as we just walk past the line ;)
Mind you, my bags are still usually the last to come out, so swings and roundabouts:mad:
