Hi
I have been to Vegas a few times and would like to go again. I have checked out Expedia and they have Flights with US Airways via Philly with great connections times and a room at the Sahara for £1394.17 for 2 people.
We have stayed at the Sahara, we don't mind being out of the way as we will have a car. The rooms a really large and we usually manage to get a balcony, not easy in Vegas. The rooms are a lot nicer than the hotel!
Does this seem like a good price or is there a cheaper way of doing it.
BTW we have tried previously, albeit a long time ago, to book a long stay at the Sahara and they wouldn't let us stay for more than 14 nights. I think they are afraid we will claim squatters rights.
The last time we booked with Expedia they came back to us 2 weeks before we were due to go and said the hotel wouldn't allow a stay of that long.
I Half expected this but thought maybe Expedia had a special arangement with them. Not so, but they did offer us the Tropicana which was fine, although I had to insist on a Paradise Room.
Any advice please anyone?0 -

as you don't mention your dates , or which day you can fly on it is difficult to say if it is reasonable , but it seems pricey to me , a DIY trip always seems to be cheaper. your not short of choice if you want to go indirect and with prices as they are you can bag much better hotels than the Sahara i would think. plus having 14 nights to play with , you could move between hotels grabbing the best deals for the dates .
try American airlines booking computer and Airline Network , dial a flight ect . did you see the post about Northwest airline a few back ???
you should also be very wary about the Tropicanna as there have been a fair few horror stories coming out about the place in the last few months. Basicallly the new owners are only doing the most essential maintance and letting the standard of serivce slip badly including the cleaning
you have been warned !Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

You don't say how long you are staying (though it sounds like more than 14 nights?) or when you are going...so it's really rather hard to say if it's a good price or not. The best way to know for sure is to price the airfare on its own and the hotel on its own and compare - but then again, depending on when you are going the best hotel deals may not be out yet.
Most hotels have a maximum length of stay per reservation - maybe you could get around it by making 2 separate reservations and moving from one room to another. Personally, while we don't like to move for an 8 night stay (our normal period) for 2 weeks or longer I would think that switching hotels would make a nice change.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
A question for those of you who've been to LV and area before - we want to hire a car to drive from LV to Grand Canyon, and then on to San Diego and Los Angeles, where we will drop it off.
My question is this - is is better to arrange pick up of car at McCarren Airport or at one of the hotels on the Strip? I will be booking the car from the UK in the next week or two, but need to know which option is best.
ThanksTaking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

maybe be better to get it from McCarren as they will have a bigger choice , with all the miles you will doing you want get something you are happy with .and may only do a one way drop off from the AirportBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Re my post earlier. We are looking to go from around 10th June, although we are not too concerned about dates. Just good prices.
I have looked at US Airways flights and they are a great price...around £350pp from Manchester but I am concerned about not being able to stay at the same hotel for 3 weeks.
We have had that problem before at the Sahara and they were adamant that it couldn't be done. They wouldn't even let us book 2 back to back stays even with changing rooms. Thats why I thought at least if I booked with Expedia it would be up to them to sort it out if there was a problem.
If anyone can come up with anything cheaper then I would be really grateful.
There is just me and hubbie.
We want flights from manchester but are not concerned if there is just one stop, I'm not bothered about direct flights, just don't want too long at the connecting airport.
Its for 21 nights and we just want cheap! We have stayed in many hotels and usually treat ourselves to something nice when we are doing a road trip and only spending a few nights in LV but when we are going for a long stay we prefer to stay cheap and have the money for spends.
Any ideas?0 -
trets...I didn't know about the Tropicana, it was fine when we stayed there but that was some time ago.
I haven't heard anything about Northwest Airlines...is it bad??0
