This'll be my fourth visit, been before twice in April and once in September. Little worried about the heat to be honest, the OH is hoping to tan, I'm just expecting us to burn! Might just try to stay in the casino as much as possible.

Stayed at Bellagio last time in a lake view room, in the Signature this time round in a one bedroom suite. Was really looking forward to the hotel, heard some mixed reviews around recently though about cleanliness of some of the rooms. Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be a good experience.

The next few weeks better go fast, friends that haven't been before are starting to get annoyed with the constant excitement about Vegas - they just don't get it!

Where are you staying? Did you get a good deal on 14 days? Starting to wish I'd booked that myself now but got a wedding to go to on the 5 July so had to be back in time.

    Hiya Mark,

The heat is amazing. At night it feels like you are being blown by a warm hairdryer. It still feels like its 80 on the strip so dress lightly! If you are fair bring some good suncream, but its not really an issue as long as you're not outside!!!! I only spent 1.5 days/14 by the pool last trip and that was in a cabana or the pool as my skin isn't conditioned to survive in those temperatures!!!!

You are so right about first timers - they REALLY dont get it. My boss is going to Vegas for 4 nights as part of an 18 night tour of the West Coast and he is trying to reduce his stay in Vegas as he thinks 3 nights will be enough and that it will be tacky...???!!! and heres me going for 14 nights lol.

Last two trips were at The Wynn (6 nights) and The Rio (14 nights). This year I have chosen The Orleans for good value (9 nights for £269) and The Wynn as I adored it last time (5 nights for £500). Its a bit different for us this year as our last two trips were paid for by Bet365 and Ladbrokes respectively (as they sponsored my other half to play in the WSOP main event) so this is the first year that Ive had to arrange it as I want to go back regardless. There's still time for him to win another package, but, if not, we are all set to go and I cant wait!

Finished work for the day (don't tell the boss as i'm still in the office till 5.00!!), driving to Gatwick tomorrow for twilight check in with Virgin and fly out Sunday.

Thanks for all the tremendous advice and tips, I hope to be able to return the favour when I come back on 2nd June (after a weeks detour in LA!!)

If and when the Virgin flight starts to grind , think of me couped up in my work place on my own for 12 hours this Sunday , that should make you feel better ;) .

Well thats us booked for end of April 2009. We fly with BMI (Business Class) to Vegas. Staying for 5 nights and then a one way flight to Florida to spend some time there.

There are four of us travelling (2 couples) middle aged so would appreciate any advice as its our first time to Vegas. I know a lot ha been posted and I've been reading many of the great posts so looking for the experts for some advice mostly around staying in a hotel which is about 4* class and in a good location on the strip. Also any recommended restaurants, excursions and shows.

    Looking forward to it already.

    Thanks

4* good location ???  . i would class Bellagio , Wynn , Venetian + Palazzo , Signature and Caesars as 5* good location Casinos and with prices as they are you may well find something at one of these for what you were paying for the likes of 4* properties The Mirage , TI , Planet Hollywood , Paris ect last year. if your flexible i would say book a "saver" direct with the Hotel (something that will not cripple you price wise , in a hotel you would consider)

http://www.harrahs.com/hot-deals/ often has acceptable ( but not Fantastic) deals the furthest out time wise. after that the fun can begin in finding/waiting for that knock out deal using the links on page #1 .

The Apple shop in Fashion Show mall has free internet access, it can get quite busy though so you won't be able to stand around surfing. It's perfect for sending an email or 2....

You are not wrong! Last weekend was Mothers Day weekend and the place was packed, but from Sunday evening until Wednesday the place was as empty as I'd ever seen it. Sunday night went to eat at Pearl - 3 couples in the place at 7:30pm. The following night at Diego's Mexican restaurant - about 30% full - plenty af free tables at all the other restaurants we walked past.

However, on the subject of food, we left it until Monday to use the last of our 4 free buffets at the Wynn. Got there about 5 - queue according to the hostess would take 1.5 hours to get a seat - went and played a bit on the slots. Came back at 6 and 7 to find the queue as long as ever - ended up going back to the Sig and using the buffet the following afternoon. THe Red Card booth people are fully aware of the "scam" to get the free buffets, commenting on how popular video roulette is with new card holders!

Decent buffet but not as good as Spice Market IMHO.

    re: wynn buffet

okay grabbing a nearly free buffet is true MSE style , but i really won't be tempted back here if i'm not getting it for free (ish) . it's just not worth the long wait on line, when you can get better food and more choice @ The Spice Market buffet where i have yet to wait longer than a few minutes .If your prepared to wait The Bellagio is worth the hassle more. but that said The Spice market runs it close in terms of quality and is of course cheaper.

i thought The Wynn bufffet was okay , but the seafood had a queue and didn't come close to the Spice Market.neither did the desserts , which are far surpassed by The Bellagio buffet and at least matched by Spice Market.

as i mentioned the DIY pasta station guy put a table spoon of salt in what was at best a very medium sized portion of pasta and sauce. i enjoyed the Carvery meats and some of the more lavish dishes though.

It's funny because Spice Market is the one we've waited longest for - well over an hour on more than one occasion, but haven't been for several years...the memory of the queue is what has kept us away - and we always used to do the Aladdin slot tournament for $25 which included a $20 certificate for the buffet - so we always got a prize and a buffet for a total of $25, with the chance to win a pull on every $1 slot in the casino. I miss that slot tournament. :)

I agree that Spice Market is really good, but we also really liked Wynn...we wouldn't pay for it though. :)
