here is my 2 cents on the whole Virgin to Las Vegas thing ( again )

in is not just the in seat entertainment ( screens are so crap , that it makes little difference IMO ) , or the long queues at check in ( an hour at McCarren !!) , it's the seats that makes it a "never again" for me .

they are badly configured with the 3x4x3 for 95% of the plane, the pitch is appalling , and they are so uncomfortable . Th fact the staff are cheesed off with complaining customers , makes the whole package not worth the 10 hours torture at any price for me and OH . don't forget the 747 was designed way back in the 60's i believe

Virgin into LAX fro LHW on the other hand is one of the best Trans Atlantic flights we have taken , and 100x better than GTW to LAS .

i would seriously consider those Air France flights into LAX , photome . what does www.flyertalk.com have to say about them ???. they always seem to be keenly priced at around £400. LA is not my fav place in the whole world but is fun enough , top make me choose a extra day there rather than endure Virgins Las Vegas sardine can again.

someone must be considering starting up a route to go head to head with Virgin. hell i bet they sell that heap out most days .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I've flown on the direct BMI - MAN - LAS route before, and found it alright... seats are more cramped than any US Airline i've flown (US Airways, Delta), but overall it was passable..

personally, when i next go to vegas, i'd probably split the trip by going into the states, and connecting there... give me a stretch of the legs etc etc...

    The whole plane was out.

vport is supposed to be installed on the gatwick fleet sometime in 2009

I usually just take my archos to watch, loaded up with loads of tv programmes or movies recorded just before I go

    hi
I want to shoot a gun, been on the gunstore website but there are no prices!
anyone experienced this and can give me some info?

    thanks

    Hi
Went to the Gun Store last November and it was great fun. I shot a .44 Magnum (and it DID make my day!) also fired a machine gun (wow)
I can't remember exact prices but I recall it wasn't that cheap :embarasse
I think the Magnum was $30 to hire and 20 shells were $20
I will ask my brother who was with me and if these figures are wildly out I will re-post.
We went on a morning (11'ish) and the only people in there were British! A guy behind me had just fired an AK47 and was about to have a go with what can only be described as a cannon!
Great fun, highly recommended even if only for a once in a lifetime experience.
(I WAS Dirty Harry for a brief moment!):D

i know it is $1 a bullet. given the rate of fire of something like an MP5 , it could work more expensive than gambling :D

I bought a PSP and a selection of movies to watch on the plane on the way back. The return journey was much more enjoyable than the way there!

Same here but mine's a Creative Zen Vision (with a battery extender that's brilliant)...I love it to death and wonder how I coped with flights before I had it...now it doesn't matter what's on the in-flight entertainment as I normally have hours and hours of stuff I KNOW I want to watch. :)

Not sure what to expect, as there seems lots to do compared to spain where we just sunbathe all day, meal out at night and a few drinks in a local bar EVERY DAY...LOL
Didnt get the american casino guide yet but someone said you can get them there, also going to try the half price ticket booth for tickets for Legends.
week to go and i will be up up and away....
    I

There's a 2-for-1 for Legends in the American Casino Guide too...just in case you do decide to buy it here or there - may as well save the fee and the time at the 1/2 price booth if you do buy it.

As for things to do - I've never been to Spain but based on the description you gave, there is a lot more to do in Vegas. ;) I'm sure you'll have a great trip - I'm jealous even though we're only a few weeks behind you...can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

Another reason we check in about 10:30am and get rid of the bags and head back to the Strip. Soooo much nicer to know that bit is done and all we have to do is get through security and to the gate several hours later...we've always been in and out in less than 15 minutes as that's the point you have to start paying for parking and we never have. :)

it would seem until vigin have any competition on there route to las vegas they just wont bother with there customers interests come on ba give them some competition please and i thought the open skies policy had started

My husband reckons that as soon as another carrier opens up London to Vegas, then magically Virgin will announce all new (or newer) planes on the route...perhaps they're keeping it in their pocket to have something to one-up a new carrier with.
