MarchAnd Virgin use their newest planes on the Vegas route dont they?
Ha! Fair point...but the last time I flew Northwest transatlantic a few years ago it was on a DC-10.My understanding is that they have upgraded their fleet since but that's my impression of Northwest...so even Virgin's planes on the Vegas route seem nicer.

MarchWHOOOH HOOOH
I havent posted since I have been back (2nd april).
I get very depressed when i get home as i miss Vegas so much, and I thought that was our last trip.
Looks like we might be going again nxt year now though.
I could write a long trip report but not sure if i will yet.
Welcome back! I was hoping you would pop in though I knew you had said you might not be back to Vegas for some time so I could understand why you might avoid us lot. Fingers crossed that your trip next year happens and would love to read your report if you have a chance to write it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Hello from Signature MGM
Why not give the store a call and ask them if you are not sure0 -
Regarding booking hotels and flights seperately - if I book my flights now for the autumn - when should I book my hotel? Should I book a room provisionally and then shop around for the best rates? Will they take a deposit off me?

..I prefer the Orleans for $30 a night.
Hi Photome,
Good to see you back with us. I can sympathise with the Vegas blues - they are the worst arent they? It always takes me at least a month to cheer up. I always find that talking/writing about Vegas makes it a little easier though - good news that you may be going back again next year though!
I know you have given me advice before on the Orleans, but can I ask you some more questions?
1) I have found what I thought is a good deal for Orleans for 9 nights (29/6 - 8/7) for £268 (average of £29 per night) on Expedia - this beats their own rate (I know I could have used the price match, but I only found that out after the event - doh!)
Do you think this is a good deal?
I have been checking fat wallet/vegas hotel hunt et all for a couple of months now, but no deals for Orleans have been released as far as I can see....
2)I have read that the newest tower (the third)was built in 2004 - so I would presume this would be the nicest - do you know which one this is - ie when I check in shall I just aske for the "newest tower" or does it have a name and do you know if they have a strip view, or does the newer room mean its the mountains/nothing?
3) I am an avid Trip Advisor reader and have probably read nearly all the reviews on The Orleans - a few mention bed bugs which would absolutely RUIN the holiday for me - any opinion on the cleanliness at Orleans?
Anyone else's comments would be more than welcomed too.
Really hope that you get a chance/perk up enough to write your trip report Photome - hope you dont mind me asking the questions - if so, just ignore me!

As far as i can tell, you can not convert power upwards. So, you have an electrical device that is supposed to work on 240v power, you take this item to the states where they use only 100v, so the hairdryer or like will run on reduced voltage, and presumably reduced power. You would only need a converter if you bought a 110V electrical device and wanted to plug it into 240V socket, so that too much power didn't run through the appliance.
my OH has 110V hairdryers, tongs and iron to use specificially in the states.
Think I am right, but someone please clarify.
Power is voltage x current.0 -
Booked the flights for September, only £330. Well chuffed, even though there is a stop over in Detroit.
Ran through a list of hotels.. I'm being pulled towards Mirage and MGM Grand.. I want somewhere with nice pools but also very Vegas-y
Also want to go to:
Mandalay Bay - aquarium
Bellagio - buffet
Paris - restaurant & tower view
Words cannot express how excited I am! Total, total newbie :j2016 diet challenge 16lbs/42lbs lost

There are these offers that give some credit, 241 buffets etc at the MGM... but these are per stay, right? Has anyone booked for example 2 nights in their name and the other 2 in the partner's name?
It's just that I will be too chicken to try the $20 trick... and I was thinking perhaps of staying in a regular room and then upgrading to a suite for 1 night. I might as well pay towards a 1-night upgrade rather than try the trick... Also, this would allow me to get twice as many benefits.... I am just thinking here
But this may imply leaving the room and switching to another one... and eventually waiting in the lobby with the luggage. It does not seem very practical...
I would be too shy to suggest and ask about this elseshwere but here, but this is a money saving forum...
I appreciate your comments. TIA
PS: I am really looking forward to this trip!!0 -

Hi,
Good deal on the flights. Can you tell me where you booked & where you're flying from?
Also, I know there a loads of 3 centre trips available for Vegas, LA & Sab Fransicso but has anyone ever done 4 nights Vegas, 4 nights LA & 7 night Mexcian Cruise with Royal Carribean?
The other option was to do 7 nights Vegas & 7 night cruise - more or less the same price.
I seen a deal today & I was toying with the idea.
We've been back just over a week & are looking to try get something sorted for a return visit real soon
