Has anyone done one of those bus tours from LV to the Grand Canyon? The one I am looking at is the following: http://www.looktours.com/bus1.html
but my OH is worried that this is going to be too long and uncomfortable. And I can't really justify taking a place or helicopter there... especially since I would like to see 2 cirque shows, goes to disney california and universal studios and that will surely be a LOT of $$$.
Any suggestions? Alternatives?
A while ago I read here about staying in a hotel in the CG... but I am very picky in terms of hotels (not a good thing when you're always trying to save money, I know...) and am worried that the lodges I looked at might have hmm... bugs etc. (if I do see a bug or an "etc." in my room I can't sleep for days.... Happened twice, once with a bug in a hotel room and once with an "etc" in a student hall).
Any comments and tips are really appreciated!! I've never had to plan such an expensive and complex trip (never been to the US).
PS: I have just returned from Blackpool, again professional reasons, and it was a dump as a holiday resort, run-down, depressing... The beach is gorgeous though, but that is about it (please don't get offended if you're from blackpool... I am sure that life outside the resort is really agreable. The residential areas looked nice and well maintained. I really just mean the promenade). Please tell me LV is nothing like it...0 -
November/Decemberpcg,
I did this exact tour on my first trip to vegas and loved it. Its a great inexpensive way to see the canyon, especially the south rim(most trips offered seem to be to the west rim). we had a couple of hours to walk around there and got some brilliant photos. we chose this as we too had booked a few shows as well and were conscious of keeping overall cost down, but i didn't feel like the experience was compromised in any way.
Yes it is a long journey but we were picked up from our hotel about 6am so slept for a few hours on the bus. Plus the journey is nicely broken up by the pitstop at hoover dam for photos and at a gas station so you get drinks etc. I know a lot of people advise against the bus tour, but i honestly had a great experience.
The only concern i would have would be if you were only in vegas for a couple of days, as it will eat into your time. Whatever you decide have a great trip!:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

Hi,
What dates are you looking for?
We're just back & we didn't book our hotels until 14 days before we flew out.

Youll end up being offered the rack rate.....probably double what youve already been quoted.
Use fatwallet or some of the excellent links posted above for best deal.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Vegas has an extremely high occupancy rate almost year-round.
Please don't leave it until you get there...I would expect in the vast majority of cases you would either not find a room or pay very dearly for it.
Have you tried looking at the deals available on fatwallet, etc? Trets compiled a list of these websites on the first post which may help you out if you haven't already looked at them.
You may do better closer to your dates, you may not...many of us here will book a back-up well in advance while looking around for better deals...that may be the way to go - just be sure it's not a no-refund offer.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Depending on your actual dates, you could get a suite at The Venetian for the top end of your range - I looked up 13 June for 6 nights and its $954.
The hotels youve quoted are fine......but theres fine and theres superb........
