I found what seems to be a great deal on hotwire for end of Aug/beginning of Sept but it's not a named hotel. Its about £45 a night for mid-strip, 4-star. Which makes me think Planet Hollywood, but you don't know until you have booked and paid. We wanted to stay at PH anyway so this would be a great deal. Anyone any ideas?? I've never used Hotwire before....

we stayed at the Strat over Easter & didn't find it a problem at all - we either walked or used Deuce bus to get around. We were of the opinion that as the monorail runs behind the strip, its not as convenient to hop on off & to access the strip. We liked the Strat & would stay there again - tbh I think wherever you stay you will want to explore all areas of. the strip

Have you used Betterbidding? There's a Hotwire Nevada forum on there. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showforum=114& (Not sure if the link will work or not.)

When I was trying to pluck up the courage to use Priceline that was the site that helped me.

PS I've just read your 'footer' so I'm guessing you already know about it.

    Hi,

I need to fly to LAS towards the end of july for a wedding. The flights at the moment are a bit expensive around £670. Is there likely to be a sale or special offers coming out for this time of the year. As there are none at the moment.

Thanks in advance for your help

I assume that is a Virgin flight from London based on the price...Miles+Money fares seem to be more scarce this year but if that is an option for you it would be worth looking at.

You could probably get cheaper flights if you are willing to go indirect and make a connection. Just depends on whether the savings is worth the hassle (some think it is, some don't).

Try somewhere like www.travelocity.co.uk, www.lastminute.com or www.expedia.co.uk to get an idea of range of prices - I would always suggest checking the airline direct before booking though as sometimes they are the same price or less expensive, but it's nice to use the 3rd parties to look at several airlines at once. Also use the 'my dates are flexible' option to see combinations of dates around your selected dates - sometimes you can get a really good deal going out on a different day, etc.

If you aren't willing to make the connection (I wouldn't be personally but others would) then I don't think you will see much cheaper for late July if that is a direct flight on Virgin, I am afraid
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I agree it's just that a lot of time with packages you could actually get a better quality hotel by booking direct...or the same quality hotel for less money.

    Many thanks for that.
I forgot to mention i would ideally like to fly from Manchester. Sorry about that.

I'll look into Virgin miles and money as it might work out cheaper going down to London to fly. So it looks like there is not much chance of any deals coming out between now and then.

    Once again many thanks

Apologies Blindman for the omission. Yes it was your excellent guide that helped me understand Priceline and then I monitored Betterbidding to get an indication of the hotels//strategies/prices.
