The drive from Vegas to LA doesn't take that long but does get a little monotonous after a while and there's not much to see going into LA until you get into the centre. (Unless you count the world's biggest thermomemeter on the way!)
Depending on the day you drive you may get stuck in a massive jam as people drive back to LA from Vegas. Sunday is the worst day.
We're flying Virgin to Vegas and then internal flights to San Francisco which we got for £80 each with Virgin. Trouble is you'll need a car in LA so I would advise hiring one there even if you were taking internal flights. Having a car throughout means not having to queue in car rental offices either picking up or dropping off more times than you need to.

MarchWe're flying out via LHR and back via LGW in June and we've figured that if you compare the price of the Heathrow Express (as we'll be coming from work in London it won't be too difficult to get to Paddington) on the way out and the price of a taxi on the way back it works out more or less what it would cost us to park for a week or so anyway...so that's what we're doing.
Probably won't work for everyone - depending on how far you have to go...but worth looking into.
As for the Vegas->LA thing, I agree that flights might seem a good option, but when you consider that you have to be there an hour before the flight, plus the faffing around in order to do that, driving may be a better option...though as has been said, you get stuck in traffic and it can be a nightmare driving.
Difficult one I think...but check if there is a penalty for renting the car at LAS and returning at LAX - sometimes there is, and it can be pretty expensive. I think I like option 2 better than option 1 overall.
Having flown PE on both the old and new-style planes in the last year I can say that the flight out of LAX would be worth waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than £30 more than the flight out of LAS. There is just no comparison between the quality of PE between the two.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchIVE BOOKED!
Flying out 27th Sept returning here 2nc October, so I get 4 full nights in Vegas (just what I wanted)
I ended up paying £635 for DIRECT FLIGHTS from gatwick with Virgin, and 4 nights in the Stratosphere Hotel.(Booked with Last min.com)
I wanted to book everything seperate but it ended up being MORE exspensive!
Did I get a good deal?
How many people are going? or rather, how many per room?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

MayJust booked tickets for the Jersey Boys at the Palazzo. I've been holding off trying to find an opening offer or a promo code to no avail. I knew it was unlikely for a brand new show.
We have tickets for the centre of the mezzanine. We always go for the cheapest tickets at any shows as I couldn't justify paying $250 each for anything and we haven't been disappointed yet.
13 days and counting. Can't believe it will soon be here (and over just as soon).0 -
November/DecemberHave a great trip Luci. Save some of the jackpots for me. I'll be there 21 May to 10 June.0

January/FebruaryI'm struggling to find a direct flight (Manchester)/hotel combination for either September 4th-11th or 7th-14th for a reasonable price!!. Looking at staying the Mirage/T.I The cheapest Ive found is around £1900 for two people! Is early September still classes as summer time? Is that why the price is higher? The most ive payed in the past is £1500 for two people. I would like to pay no more than 1500 for September. HELP!!
This is really stressing me out!!! :mad:Vegas Trips....Feb 2007, Nov 2007, September 2008, August 2009, September 2011..........:beer:0 -

With no offers about as its so far in the future booking a fly-drive flight and a standard room in the TI separately comes out at 1650. Labor day holiday is Sept 1st this year so you won't be affected too much by it so I'd hope to get the hotel room a lot cheaper.
wht would get me interested is why there are no flights on Sept 3 .......whats on? ...and may it adverselfy affect Sept 7th flight prices in the near future?0 -
Just managed to get some flights with Virgin direct for the end of May for £440 each, which isnt a lot more than the cheapest we could find flying indirect so worth the extra
Need to book by the 16th and is for flights between 1st May and 30th June
thanks for all the information on this thread0
