MarchDeal for Bally's posted at OpenVegas - sounds like a good one to me (but I'm a Bally's fan)...rooms from $50/night - dates to mid-September at least. 1 night minimum, 5 night maximum. YOu can upgrade to a refurbished room in the North Tower for $20 more...we've always managed to get upgraded with a $20 tip at check-in but that can't be guaranteed.

MarchA warning on twilight, there has been a rumor that VS are scrapping it to save money, so best to check with them before you travel to the airport.
That would be so tragic. Thanks for the heads up though - we will be watching closely. We would still stay at the airport the night before our flight, but it wouldn't have quite as much benefit as it does now.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks ferf - I got an email from Harrahs Marketing this morning and was just about to post it when I saw that you had beaten me to it! Its a great deal - $70 per night for one of the deluxe rooms in the North Tower.
Ive just booked for 5 nights (of our 14 night stay in summer). I've NEVER stayed at Ballys - you say that you are a fan - can you tell me why?
And maybe give some advice about eating there/entertainment etc.
Have stayed at Wynn & Rio only before - any comparisons?
Which other Vegas hotels would you put it in bracket with?
It looks like its got good reviews on Trip Advisor too.....
Anyone else had any experience here?
Thanks.

Hi Steff -
will send you a PM in a bit as I'll be terribly long-winded I am sure! But the main points for us is the rooms are massive and we like the extra space. The casino is fun for us but not overly hectic like some (this is a negative for some people). The location is brilliant. It's connected to Paris so sort of like 2 places in one.
We've also stayed at Wynn and Rio - it doesn't come close to Wynn in any respect other than the Wynn casino is pretty subdued (relatively speaking)...everything is better at Wynn except the rooms at Bally's are bigger. As for Rio, we didn't like Rio. We didn't like the room (and we got upgraded to a diamond room) - it was too hot and we couldn't bring the AC down to a temperature that was comfortable for us and the location was not for us. The casino there is really fun and lively for awhile, but we found it to be too much after overall - too loud (we must be getting old).
As for other hotels in the same bracket it's difficult as so many variables to consider...I can't really think of one that really compares on enough points...we didn't like Harrah's (rooms too small), Luxor was OK, Bellagio is in Wynn's league, Bally's is better than Excalibur...and that's all the places we have stayed.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Entertainment wise you have the very specular traditional topless Vegas show Jubilee .
i really enjoyed this show ( and not just for the 100's of pretty girls ) as did my wife. you can get half price tickets with the LVA book of values , which almost pay for the book on their own. http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/whyjoin-pocketbookofvalueslist2008.cfmBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Well the day before we return to UK from Vegas, a view of a sceptic.
Service from all 'excellent' - we brits have a lot to learn.
We spent 8 days which as we saw three shows, Russian Ice Dance (good), La Reve at the Wynn (excellent) and off to see Mystere (CDSoleil tonight) had the chance to see Elton but decided not too but wish I had now, and went to GC was about right and allowed relaxation time.
The themed hotels are excellent but for my view great to visit would only consider Bellagios, Venetian & Wynns to stay in, we stayed just down from Ballys at the suite hotel The Platinum it was excellent we could escape the strip at any time our room had vast space big lounge, kitchen, bathroom etc and we had fridge, dishwasher, freezer wash machine dryer, jacuzzi if needed. The gym and pool were very good and private.
Took a tour through Viator and self drove to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon (West Rim) with udrivetours.com it was good as we had freedom to do our own thing and the Hummer was ours for 24 hours.
Virgin direct flight was excellent.
Food all very good, Planet Hollywood buffet, Treasure Island buffet good. Loads of good quality fast food.
Buses good service $5 dollars all day.It pays to challenge0 -
SeptemberJust wanted to say that we loved Bally's too. Lots of space, great friendly staff, perfect location being connected to Paris. The steak house is lovely and we got for tickets for jubilee with dinner at our choice of restaurant within Ballys as comps and I don't think we played that much. The cafe in Ballys called Nosh makes the most amazing breakfast croissants and meatball subs - yum yum. Hope it's still thereLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
