Thomas,
You mention that you are thinking of flying back from LA, the only drawback is that you will fly back to Heathrow rather than Gatwick. So if you're driving to the airport it does cause a logistical problem.
Stoneman,
The Virgin brochure says that twilight check in is open from noon, have they changed it? I'm planning on using it in a few weeks.

Great thread but sooooooooooooo much to read:T
I am right in thinking that good deals for August are not out yet?
Also i ma looking to build up air miles for Virgin Travel. I play on line poker and therefore get some that way. I have taken out the virgin white card and intend to book my flights with that card and then pay off cash when the bill arrives. Does any body know if that qualifies me for the 3000 miles they give you with first use.
Also i have tried to find the thread on how best to use airmiles but cant seem to locate can any one help?
Finally:o when i click on some links placed by trets77 some dothey do not go through to the site. I have just changed ISP from Orange to AOL do you think it might be something to do with that?
Cheers for any help you can give:T
Steve
a tad early for august offers , but keep a eye on the sites listed in post #1 .
I'm not sure if there are 2 Virgin White cards but it's this one that earns you miles . http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/creditcard/index.jsp
you can use miles or a combination of money and miles to buy flights . once you have overcome the activity on the account clause you can buy miles to spend on money and miles fares which may work out cheaper than just buying the flight.
as for your problem with the links ....pass. try using Firefox or going through the links off the sites i got the offer off ( i list the site under the offer)
don't have any experience with Manchester flights to know if these are reasonable fares or not (I'm sure there's some guidance in the guide at the beginning of this thread but being a London-based person I'm afraid the Manchester info goes in one ear and out the other), but a lot less than what you've been quoted at least.Today 12:18 PM
it can be diificult to judge what is good as regards BMI , there is no hard and fast rules for knowing if the fares will go down i'm afraid , you have to remember there are only a few direct flights leaving from Manchester each week. so for popular times they can get away with high prices.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
MarchThe Virgin brochure says that twilight check in is open from noon, have they changed it? I'm planning on using it in a few weeks.
Their website now says noon as well - I think it's more likely that they've extended the hours than the other way around as I also thought it was 2pm-9pm as it has been for awhile (seems like it used to be 4-9 so good to see that they're constantly extending it a bit!)
It's gotten so I hate when we don't fly Virgin out of LGW - We so appreciate twilight check-in - it's such a great thing.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MayFound a site I haven't come across before which has hotel promos. Looks pretty up to date.

The bulkhead seats are the ones that have a partition in front of them. They usually hold the flight cots for babies, in my opinion they are not that great. You don't get great legroom because you can not put your feet under the seat in front. The dinner trays are in the arm rest so the rest is not movable and makes the seat width a little narrower.
As for opening times of twilight I was only going be the last time I used it. A warning on twilight, there has been a rumor that VS are scrapping it to save money, so best to check with them before you travel to the airport. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
January/FebruaryAfter a change in cirumstances I am now only able to fly to Vegas around the begining of September (we are looking at the 3/4th september for a 7 night stay).
There will be 2 travellers and we want to fly direct from manchester. Every time I check thomas cook they offer flights to Vegas for under £300 but only if you wait until the very last minute (usually a couple of days before flying). If we wait until a couple of days before we want to go in September what are the odds of getting a sub £300 flight?? Or is there a good chance it will be sold out. Bmi are quoting around £700 per person to book now for september which is way too much! We want to pay £450 for flights maximum
Please Help me!!

the best advice i can give you is too look at the 2007 thread to what the prices were for the flights then. Don't forget they were My Travel back then , so they may be selling a tad better under new managment. see post # 1019 where someone asked a similar question for Sept 9th in July . BMI were £750 each while my travel were £368.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=338730&page=51
i stopped writing prices for these flights in June , July and most of August because they never dropped below £500 which they were always priced at. however check out my price checks in post # 1243.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=338730&page=63
you can then see my price checks up to your dates from there on. they went as low £209 for 1st sept but that really was last minute .
talking of price checks , it's monday  .
Thomas cook from Manchester .
09/04/2008 7 nights = £220 14 nights = £320
16/04/2008 7 nights = £420 14 nights = £420
23/04/08 7 nights = £455 14 nights = £455
30/4/08 7 nights = £455 14 nights =£455
MGM Grand from $69
from fatwallet . various stays . expire April 14th and May 1st.
