Morning all.
Certainly wise words from CoG.
Today I have tennis again in the afternoon but given I lost on Thursday and lost twice yesterday just at noughts and crosses I'm not anticipating great things. I have a presentation to prepare for church this morning..the old fashioned way of printing and putting in files..'because they don't do tech'...
So dog walk, prep for DGD2 arriving later and dailies. That should keep me busy enough and out of trouble! I have already watered the garden as it didn't rain yesterday.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Well said CofG, and you cant take everything on your own shoulders. Its so hard but if you give up your own life ignoring your own needs and feelings for any length of time it will eventually impact your mental health. Easier said than done of course. You are doing an amazing job Narco.I am cycling this morning, I am going to be late if I don't get moving, love to all, catch you later x
Oh anyone heard from Pigpen?6 -
Morning all xx
I managed to stay in bed until 8.05am woot woot. Woke up at 6.05 feeling awful - totally convinced that I'd developed a storming head cold overnight; so stayed in bed, went back to sleep, and here I am. Headachey but not ill. Thank goodness 🤞
I'm up, made my bed, stood the airer outside in the sun, completed Wordle and Connections, eaten breakfast and supped two brews.
I'll get dressed then decide what I'm doing today.

Good morning 😁 (just!)
I'm sorry you were lonely in the week Round! I have just caught up with the thread. Hugs to Narc0 - you are doing an amazing job! CoG very wise words indeed.
After last weekend's peace & quiet I have had a busy week. I am still catching up on the washing the smelly boys bought home as the weather has been pants! Now DH has just got back from a 24 hour charity running thing with loads more washing! 1st load is swishing - I will hang it out and keep my fingers crossed 🤞
Friday was my birthday and as a special treat to myself, I took the day off and went to Hampton Court garden festival with SiL. The weather was horrendous on the drive there, but we only had a few very light showers during the day, so that was lucky.
Yesterday, we had a family day as DD1 & DGS were visiting. DGS will be 2 on Wednesday, so we had cake with candles, and my mum treated us all for a meal out. I have cleared most of the carnage indoors, but I'm still feeling a bit shell-shocked 😂
List for today:
Hang out washing & do more!
Empty DW
Finish tiny lilac cardi for DGD
Tidy kitchen
Get rid of recycling (boxes, wrapping paper, etc)
I may also potter in the garden, but generally, I am having a lazy day!
Oh, and I need to email my new MP as I was not satisfied with the answer the last one fobbed me off with! Our area has turned red for the first time in over 100 years, I believe!! It's a classic case of reform splitting the blue vote, I think.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone x6 -
TD on 🙄 2nd load swishing - roll on summer!
Currently recording a time lapse of a butterfly emerging from it's chrysalis - but it is not playing ball! The other 4 are all out, so I wanted to catch this one as the children will miss it. Wakey wakey!!!!! 😂6 -
Well said CoG and (((hugs))) to all carers, particularly Narco. It's tough and no-one I know, including myself, that's done is or is doing it ever thinks they've done enough, because no matter how hard we try we can't give the person we're caring for back what they've lost.Belovéd and I are still recovering from Thursday night / Friday morning, but we've managed to make a dent in the Flying that really needed to be done, hung my newly framed print of Hadrian's Wall given to me by the B&B landlady as I left, shopped, entertained three on Friday, and will have one to supper tonight, menu planned for the week, showered and washed hair, and done more discussion and planning for something in September which happened to include quality control on champagne. I am, after 10 years, pretty much teetotal but about six months ago I decided I could risk champagne. Turns out I can cope with champers without any trouble at all but as I only have it on special occasions and it's expensive I won't be having that much that often. Seems like a fair compromise to me. And in case anyone wants needs to know, Lidl do this one which is cheapish, cheerful and very acceptable. The guff says it's an aperetif and pairs with savory canapés. We found it went well with fish, chips and mushy peas.Better is good enough.5

Piggers said she'll be back when things calm down at home and she gets time to herself.
I did say we were all missing her and sent our love too.
