That all sounds good, Narc0. Glad you are getting time out on the beach to recharge your batteries. Caring is wearing!
Yesterday I managed the dailies (including Rosie's walk) plus an hour in the garden, chatting to J as he hacked back the thuggish chocolate vine and chopping up the bits to fit better in the bin. The vine has grown everywhere, so it's going to be one of his regular jobs for the next couple of months. After that, I was in too much pain to do anything but rest for a while. In the evening I enjoyed an hour-long phonecall with my old school friend R, (we always have plenty to talk about: music, art, books, travel, the vagaries and vicissitudes of new vicars...) and afterwards DH and I watched GBSB, so by bedtime I was beginning to feel better, mentally as well as physically.
Today I am looking after my 10yo goddaughter W as her mum still has to work 10.00-5.30. Thankfully, I managed to wriggle out of being landed with 9yo M as well, apart from picking her up from her minder before dropping both girls off at Scouts this evening:+

Morningall
did a very thorough cafe floor clean yesterday as, after we removed the extra tables and chairs I could move the tables for vacuuming/mopping as opposed to cleaning under them.
At home i have washed tea towels and aprons from work. It appears to be windy and warm so they’ll dry quickly.

well the aprons dried in half an hour...the tea towels are almost dry - just the bit where they've been folded over the line and pegged is slightly damp and I've done another washload as it'll dry so quickly.
Black bin out, it's been emptied (not that it was full) and brought back inDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Five hours spring cleaning some of the kitchen. The bits I've done are better, and weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, but I'm glad they're done. I've had to stop because in the end I kept bashing bits of myself, and that means I'm tired.Resting now because we'll be up all night at the Count, and I don't mind missing one of the constituencies' results in the hall, but the two others are close to my heart and I want to be in the room when the result is announced.Better is good enough.5

And breathe.....
Came home, brought in the emptied bins, emptied my lunch bag, put out the recycling, watered my hanging basket, got changed into my scruffs. I've had a snacky tea while watching the Norrie/ Draper match at Wimbledon. TdF highlights at 7.
British Grand Prix this weekend. Then week 2 of Wimbledon and TdF next week. One or two meet ups with friends planned. But my goal for the next three days is to relax, recuperate, reset, refocus, and all those other re words. Chillax.

Nothing astounding to report really.
This morning's achievement was going through all the paperwork in a box on top of Mum's bureau with her; she easily agreed to cull at least half of it. While not actually aiding her in life survival skills, it makes things less cluttered and hopefully means she won't spend hours looking for stuff - this, while probably one of her 'usual' activities, seems to make her particularly anxious at present as she is constantly losing things. Today's Stroke Therapist was a psychologist who discussed major causes of anxiety and how Mum will deal with them; helpfully that aided paving the way for DB and I to ease out of the 'constant companion' mode. Drip drip. Actually it was really interesting as of course it overlaps with some of my work/experience anyway.
Cajoled into coming for a walk (moaning and grumbling) she actually did her best yet, 500m.
I had a bouncy swim.
Wrote more of a report.
DB rang from his work in Germany this evening to catch up on progress; he is keen to set a date when neither of us will be around every day. While I understand that a deadline is necessary (Mum would happily keep one of us here all the time as a companion!), I do worry a bit more, perhaps because now I've seen her when she gets into a state (distressing), i don't like to think of her being in that state when nobody is there. Although perhaps she has always been like that but there's been nobody here to rant and wail at - or maybe she'd just get on with things if we weren't there. All hard. Give me a complex dyslexic student any day!!
Sorry that isn't very fly-y but I did lots of tidying and cleaning.....is caring flying?
Have a good weekend everyone. I'm not focusing on the theatre trip I should have been on tomorrow but just on Mr N who is coming to stay, yippee.

@Valli I love lemon posset but it's too much cream really. Is the peach and amaretti recipe you mention this one? https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/seasons/what-should-you-be-cooking-in-august/peaches-baked-with-amarettiIf so, that's the one I do too, albeit I tweak it a bit. I did it on Tuesday when A's niece came. I agree, it's simple but delicious.@YORKSHIRELASS maybe one day that will be possible; I love entertaining. This morning I had a tidy and a vac around and a S&S in the kitchen. I popped to the shops and also voted. When I came back a neighbour came up to visit A. He's an airline pilot and was off to Hong Kong this afternoon and then to Australia and the US. He assures me his life isn't as glamorous as it sounds! After lunch I WUPA the breakfast and lunch things and then watched some tennis. I prepared supper, WU again and put out A's breakfast things and his meds. He has to have both done and dusted by 6am as he can't eat after that prior to his second angioplasty tomorrow.I now have to resist sitting up half the night to watch the election results come in as I have to take A to the hospital tomorrow.

CoG… very similar, but mine has either Amaretto or Brandy in, too
Washing dried beautifully, so it’s either been folded or ironed.
Narco… are there any social groups or day centres Mum can attend? I know The Stroke Association do stuff hereabouts, they have a minibus.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
