Welcome @Mimismoney23 if you manage on that budget you will be doing amazingly well. If you go over dont worry too much as you will still be saving masses of money Good luck.

DH has become like the "honey monster" for those who remember that far back. He has been having 2 cereals every morning since he regained his apetite after his op. He says that he is off to Aldi again today to buy more! 🤦. This month we are trying small shops just to buy when we need but there seem to be an awful lot of these occasions! With 2 young GDs coming to stay at the end of the month we need to reign it in a bit now. DH is in charge of bread, mikk cereal, soft drinks and sugar. He always leaves it until the last minute and then we miss the deals! We are well stocked on Tea, Coffee and hot choc. I just need to keep a better eye on the other bits

  • Morning all, decided to have a £50 week the first week of July, with a few treats added on top and milk for this week we spent £52 so not to bad. Had big shop delivered and fruit and veg yesterday. It’s not working out cheaper using the 50% off but the kids are getting loads more variety that the budget wouldn’t stretch to at full price, so I am happy with the cost of that while the deal is running. Shouldn’t need anything else for the week now, meals planned and my eldest saw bread half price on Sunday so got a few loaves for the freezer, so won’t need a bread top up either.

I’m late but put me on for

    £450

that’s to go from 29th June to 11th August.

Family of 4, my son is now on 3 meals a day. We go away on 12th August and I really want to keep spending to a minimum

£162/450 spent already. The freezer is full. Next big shop is next Wednesday 10th
    £30 spent

this is from the past few days

£20 Morrisons. I’m one of those saddos that stay up watch the election results. However I can’t do it alone so I got a few snacks. I also had a free chocolate bar to get as it’s my birthday month. I also had a 5000 points bonus which is effectively £5 off. That’s saved in my account for another day. Morrisons is expensive for a lot of things but for some items on offer especially what I got it’s cheaper than Tesco.

    £5 reduced meat in M&S

£5 meal deal and cookies. Ok ok I should have but this was Friday when I was so tired I wanted a quick fix lunch

    £192/450

may need a few bits between now and 10th. Pay day 20th I’ll do a big shop then. I’ve still got quite a bit of meat and fish in the freezer
Spent over the last few days

£10 in M&S on essentials (bread, milk, butter, beans, fruit, cheese). I find them very reasonably priced for basics

£5 Tesco reduced fish cakes and chicken wings

£8 Sainsbury’s reduced chicken (lots to choose from)

£14 M&S I needed to get bread for the lunches but also found some reduced fish and grapes which I picked up

shopping due tomorrow. My freezer is full of meat and fish thankfully most of it reduced price

    £229/450

Sainsbury’s basic muesli has gone up another 20p to £2. With a bit of fresh fruit from the garden it is good enough. It has been cold enough to have basic porridge for breakfast most days.
I added an extra packet of their loose leaf tea to my basket in case there is a shortage because of the weather.

29/7 Morrisons Savers muesli is £1.68 a kilo.

Hi everyone, sorry I've been quiet.
I've managed a no spend day today and yesterday on the food budget front and will likely do another nsd for the food budget tomorrow.
I may pick up some extras but out of my other money.
I've some bendy carrots to use up before I buy more and am tempted to change up the diet for a few days as I've had salad for what seems forever.

Welcome @TravelCrystal and @Mimismoney23, and anyone else I’ve missed saying “Hello” to.  There are a lot of useful links in the first few posts of each Grocery Challenge thread.

@Suffolk_lass , so sorry to hear you’re in pain.  Hopefully, it will settle down soon and the cause will be permanently fixed.

I have some shopping to declare:  92p spent on loose potatoes in Sainsbugs last Tuesday, together with £11.71 spent in L!dl on the same day.  (The latter being spent on Salmon En Croute £4.49, smoked haddock £3.59, New Potatoes £1.65, onions 2x1kgx99p.).

Yesterday, we visited 3 L!dl shops in search of mixed nuts - none anywhere - and spent £5.22 on Gouda slices (on offer), fruit & nut mix, and German black bread.  (I add mixed nuts to my breakfast cereal.  Hopefully the fruit & nut mix will do the job.)

The above brings our total spend to £37.24/£165.40 leaving £128.16 for the rest of the month.

We won’t be doing a big shop until we get back from France, on 22nd July.  We head off on Sunday.  Until then, my plan is to eat from the fridge/freezer, so that nothing will be wasted.

    - Pip
