Morning,
My first weekly shop from Mr T, total of £50.91. All basic items bought, fish fingers, veg, bread, toiletries etc. No meat though, I have got meat in freezer to use up, plus held off on the coffee as it is a bit pricey, hopefully, should have enough left in the jar to last a week.
My plan is to have no more expenditure until next Thursday’s shop.

Dumped & ran earlier - £64.35 spent, mostly at the butchers but some at the supermarket. I'm away this weekend but will be leaving some housekeeping money for the troops, and as it's DD1 & DS3's birthdays, some of it will certainly be spent! I've been down with a streaming cold all week so haven't yet done the non-perishables for this month, which will have to happen early next week.Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7

Hope your pain goes away and you get a solution soon @Suffolk_lass
@elsiepac luckily I came back in July before I got deletedTx as ever for doing this.
Grocery spend £55.38/£160 + £0/ £30 bulk
Morrison £23.32 (only £13.32 cash this month)
I had a £10 gift card I had bought myself via a TCB offer which I finally spent so £23.32 spent but only £13.32 forked out - included a whole chicken, chicken breast, YS salmon and a lot of veg
PLUS I had 4% via ZipZero so thats 93p due back
Nisa local £2.14 inc milk for MWAP which I dont drink.. He bought us a picnic but weather was not good enough Monday so we ate it indoors
Co-op £3.50 on YS veg, YS GF bread
Aldi today - beware of the YS not going through - £26.42 plus toilet paper (part of home)
YS sausages and pork ribs but I notice in the self check out they did not reduce the prices so I had to call an assistant to reduce and add the % off - so saved some there by being awake.
I only went in to Aldi for the toilet paper .... £27 later .. but mainly veg, lots green salad, frozen tuna steaks, tuna in tins, frozen blueberries, peppers, portobello mushrooms and I did buy most the super 6 - lemons, celery, nice tomatoes, corn,
I am aiming to get more frozen veg/fish/meat in - plus bargains as its easy to grab especially after travelling and it does not go off... though as the summer harvest comes in I will be buying that in the store. My freezer looks small but is a tardis - it is however quite full despite eating it down in the last week.
I have started doing this EMS workout - 2 x 20 min sessions a week for 15 weeks so I am also buying more lean protein and healthy fats eg guacamole today. I did buy some salted peanuts and almonds but no crisps or candies/choc as I will just eat it if it is in the house.

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@weenancyinAmerica we’re definitely going to keep cold water canteens strapped to us. 😂
Howdy everyone. I have a few spends to report since the start of the month.
£9.95 at M & S for 2 bags of coffee beans Mr. Jings is drinking + plus a small yoghurt
£11.93 at the halal store for 750g of lamb shoulder and a couple bulbs of garlic
£6.97 at M & S for bananas, doughnut peaches, YS net of avocados, and a load of strawberries
£28.85 / £150.00 spent. £121.15 remaining
We’ll need milk, eggs, and yoghurt this weekend. We still have loads of meat and we have some frozen veg to use up.6 -

Thanks for the tip on Aldi special offers. We are back to shopping at there again now that DH is eating properly. I took a neighbour up there to do her shopping this week. Spent £8.29 on a few bits whilst I was there. Minced pork and beef ( I looked in sainsburys last week, but theirs was more like pureed meat in its new packaging! I just didnt like the look of it), rice, cereal and sweetcorn. Will hopefully be next week now before we need milk and bread.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

However Aldi with these new self service tills should have signs stating 'buyer beware' or 'your discounted food needs assistance from the assistnats or you pay full price'
@Soontobeoap I dont normally buy the special super 6 or whatever they call it but the 6 this week were all good and included apples as well - so a decent savings on some essentials.
I have been paid late and just done my YNAB budget - I am really needing to keep under budget in all my categories especially going out/social but this grocery £160 budget is only for my indoor food. However I am eating protein, lots of veg /salads etc and hopefully less junk - which can get costly especially GF. I can see me making a GF cake or some GF bread - bought some YS GF earlier this week but otherwise its 2.5 to 3 x price of making it at home.
I have a large pork crackling joint in the freezer and about to halogen oven the YS pork ribs I bought yesterday ... I also had bought a chicken from Morrisons Monday - so I will make a stock and then a GF chicken soup noodle thing I think from the remainder - or maybe a taco as have some GF tacos in
I bought some frozen tuna steaks yesterday for stock - 4 for £3.65 I think in Aldi so again meal planning by protein portions then veg /salad with dessert being DF yogurt, and frozen /fresh berries. I did buy some fresh strawberries yesterday but ouch expensive - I am only feeding me no wonder people with families having issues

Can I please first of all thank @elsiepac for this brilliant thread.
I have been lurking in the background for some time and have never been brave enough to post, so here goes.
There are just two of us, myself and D.H unless you count our cat ):-
I tend to work on an annual basis and our year starts in July.
We have recently added another freezer so we can bulk buy.
I aim for a £400 a month spend which includes the occasional meal out, holiday meals and excludes our cat.
Spend so far on bulk meat purchase of £400 and £64.76 on this weeks shopping at Lidl.
I hope that makes sense.
Looking forward to reading all your lovely posts.
Many thanks
T.C9
