Had another shopping delivery on Thursday which came to £100.33 and probably half of that was for entertaining over the weekend.

I may end up with extra butternut squash to plan for this week as the recipe we're making for dinner tonight asked for a set weight of bns but you could only buy them online by the individual squash so I over-ordered in case I got tiny ones. It's happened before when I ordered a red cabbage to make coleslaw for a big party and got the tiniest cabbage you've ever seen in your life when normally they're the size of your head and ended up having to go out to buy another one. Online grocery shopping is very convenient except when it isn't!

I'm up to £190.57/£300 for the month now but I'm hoping to not have to spend too much next week and use up what we've got.
If you don't need to cut into the extra butternut squash it will keep for months in a cool place.  If you do need to cut into it then I was chop it and then freeze ready to use another time.

  • Pleased you took advantage @carboot_karaoke. £5 is £5 😊

    I took your advice @PipneyJane and @TravelCrystal

Made a very careful list incorporating things l would need to buy at some point this month anyway total spend £26.57  :)

    New totals
    £687/ £276.41
    1. Petrol £180 / £47.37
    2. Food/Cleaning £350 /£168.17
    3. Camping food £100 / £21.96
    4. Toiletries £57 / £38.91

I did the same, this morning, @carboot_karaoke.  After applying the £5 off voucher, I spent £26.81 in L!dl on cheese, soft brown sugar, wraps, frozen fish, instant coffee, 4 litres of lactose free skimmed milk and several bags of nuts.  Everything is long dated, including the milk (best before 19th August!).

I missed a spend when I reported yesterday.  £2.44 spent in L!dl earlier in the week on puff pastry and Fruit & Nut Mix.  The latter cost £1.39 for 200g.  When I made up a new batch of breakfast cereal, I discovered that nuts really do make up half the package.  I was quite impressed.  (My breakfast cereal consists of 500g bran flakes, a 1kg sack of muesli and the Fruit & Nut mix.)

The above brings my total spend to £70.49/£165.40 leaving £94.91 for the rest of the month.

I am giving him a bit of slack at the moment. 🤣

510/550 so thats 40 left until 23rd, been away and left 2 in house who used dominoes when i was away (came outta food budget)
So not sure how i will be able to keep in budget and may go over again but will try my best not to.  We have full freezers as obviously they did not cook much whilst i have been away and the air fryer was caked in fat from when they did. Onwards and upwards

I've £26.20 left of this week's food money, which I will put into the bulk fund.
I will probably just need fresh stuff next week, mainly fruit and salad.
My freezer is rammed with stuff and needs using, but slowly will get there

  • Morning all, ended up doing a small but expensive shop when picking up Milk from farmf as is always the risk, £23.54, that did include ice creams and another 3 blocks of cheese. Having an Iceland delivery this morning with bag fees it’s £51, this is for sons bday tea tomorrow as he wanted those hot dog crust pizzas, garlic bread, chicken strips and alphabites, all of which seem to have sky rocketed in price, haven’t had icelan for a while now. Did include some “offers” aswell for a couple meals in the future. Birthday teas would usually come from the birthday budget but there’s not enough budget at the moment so just using grocery money. And finally husband spent £11.11 on yogurt and not sure what else at work.
    All in all £220.97/300.
